Want to get all my windows tinted on the SR5 Premium and have discovered ceramic is the way to go. Does anybody have recommendations on the % I should get for each window. The laws in TN state windows should allow 35% in but I definitely want to go darker, including the windshield strip.

Also, anybody in the Chattanooga area know of any reputable tinting places? I've seen a few with great reviews and I assume that all do pretty much the same job, not sure how to pick one over the other.

I did 15% in the front and 35% over the rears (per my tinter's recommendations for a good match). They look nearly perfectly matched and they're easy to see through at night. I have XPEL Prime XR Plus

I have ceramic tint and a window strip. I'm in Texas and the added protection is worth it. Oh, I have 5% all the way around....yup, I'm riding dirty!

I've used 5% on my last 5 or 6 cars and haven't had any issues with cops or getting it inspected, yet!

This looks clean!! Thanks for sharing. Might have to just do the 5% as well. Similar to Texas, Chattanooga is filled with cars with illegal tints. I'll just drive "carefully" to try and draw attention to my vehicle haha

I wouldn't recommend going lower than 25%, you can get away with 25% passing as 35% in a truck. But more importantly is seeing at night. I have 25% all around and am actually thinking of bumping to 35% for better night driving visibility.

That's the best part of ceramic, no need to go super dark to block out UV/Heat.

This. Driving vehicles with 5% is sketchy at night. Very hard to see pedestrians.

I had XPEL 20% all around (20% front and 20% over factory all around) and it was fine driving at night. The biggest bitch about it was trying to wave people through 4 way stops or at intersections, they couldn't see me wave. I will likely go 35% XPEL all around this time around.

I did the max the law allows. Going darker is just asking to have the Man brought into my life for something dumb and leaving my self open for lability.

I don’t have time to deal with the man or having to fight my way out of a legal situation that is easy to avoid.

People going darker reminds me of people that put a Pot sticker on their car and wonder why they get pulled over. Just go gray man and avoid the trouble.

I agree with you and what others have said. Going darker on ceramic tint isn't necessary and does open you up to possible problems. I have it @ 5% for two main reasons:

    1) I like the added security and privacy that going darker gives me.
    2) I think it looks cooler. I won't lie or give you another BS reason. I want my truck to look cool!

I have talked to a few dozen cops about illegal tint, and almost all told me "Don't be a dick while driving and we don't care. If you do get pulled over, roll down all of your windows immediately. It's a safety thing for us, if we can't see it, we're going to go on the offensive." So I don't speed or drive erratically.

The summers in Texas have almost 18 hours of day light. So the darker tint isn't an issue for me. But when it gets dark early, or if I'm on a un-lit road, then it is hard to see. But that is very rare for me. The winter months are very short in Texas and I live in a well lit area. Do I recommend it? Nah. Don't do what I do.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
Same here, by going legal I got a lifetime warranty. The slightest bubble or peal and that window gets re-tinted.

Ceramic is really amazing down here in the Houston area where it’s hot af. I had mine done a few weeks after I got it and it made the AC cool it off so much quicker. I also use a windshield cover that helps a lot. Mine is legal in front and real dark everywhere else, which is also legal in Texas. It’s only gotten hotter and my appreciation of it greater.

Mine is 25% but I don’t see an issue doing 5 since windshield is stock clear. I suppose merging and changing lanes could be more difficult at night with side windows tinted to 5% but other 99% of time driver looks trough windshield.

If you get a high quality installer and ceramic tint, then 35% on the fronts and 5% over the rears will help with the heat reduction and work great. I would also do 35% on the moonroof, if you have one, and 40-50% on the full windshield.
