Now that it's blazing hot and my AC is cranking, I notice some days I'm around 12mpg in the city. Typically, it's around 14 or 15, and it got me thinking about the possibility that my tire pressure is impacting this decrease as well. I'm not exactly sure what tires I have without looking, but you can probably tell from one of the images below. I can see from the app the pressure is at 37 pounds.

It's not the end of the world, as I drive very little; only put 2,000 miles on it since October, ha! I also don't mess with any of the off-road buttons, shifter, etc., and realize the obvious that these babies are gas-guzzlers. Definitely more so that my Tacoma did.

I run mine at 32PSI in the summer as they heat up to 37PSI pretty quickly once I start driving. Stock Dulops currently on TRD Pro wheels. Getting 19.5mpg.

Dang 12 in the city on 33s?

    On heavy 34's (38-40 psi. E load 285/75/17 A/T4W's)
I get about 13-14 in the city.
17-18 Hwy if I keep it under 75 mph.

My old 285/70/17 C load Ridge grapplers I ran at Nittos recommended 37 psi.
    14-15 City
    18-19 Hwy

I found driving style, and incline/ decline made a far bigger impact than my 33 to 34 switch.

It is insane, yet maybe it's because I drive the same 4-mile roundtrip, side street route everyday. It's also not simply a flat road the entire way, and there are a few hills here and there. The one time that I did drive on the interstate for more than an hour, I was getting around 18-19 mpg. I guess for the city I'm just going to have to come to terms with 12-14 mpg :woot:

Yeah these things get terrible mileage in the city I don’t worry about it much.

I’ve seen it as low 10-11 on the 34s but that’s just driving style. I can focus on driving conservatively and get 16 in city.

As I’ve said, driving style seems to make a big impact

RCI skid plate, RCI Roof rack, 265/70/17 Ko2 C,
    hey yall,
I have a similar question. I have a 2024 ORP (5500 miles), with 265/70 17 KO2 C rating (@ 40psi), and im averaging 15mpg street driving with some steep hills on my commute. is this normal? No lift, just full roof rack and aluminum front skid plate.

I had a 2010 4runner RWD before this so im familiar with the below average MPG, but this seems much lower than I expected.

Why are you running such a high tire pressure on stock tires?

i looked up on forums and people recommended around 40psi for the C rated tires. i havent done the chalk test, but when i had my tires rotated at 5300miles, they said it looked fine. Maybe I need to play around with the pressure?

All local short trips.. yeah you can’t do much to improve. You don’t drive much, so as an absolute cost to operate... who cares if it’s largely 14mpg

    Stop flooring it everywhere! Lol
4runners are inherently going to lose mpgs if you just look at them cock-eyed.
I'm on stock tires at 33 psi and I'm the one you flip off because he didn't floor it to the next light, and still only get 18 combined. Late night hway trip can be 20. If there's absolutely no traffic.

Just run the tire recommended pressure for the weight of your truck and then the only factor will be you.
