I considered putting gear in there but when I've looked in, it seemed like a bottomless pit that things could slide so far down or forward they became out of reach. Is that not the case? I didn't know if there was anything stopping stuff from going way up past the gas tank filler.

Forget the storage case....I can't focus on anything other than the photography! Wow!!! When you can make the back of a 4Runner look like a da Vinci painting, you know you've hit max level.:D

I have the same storage cover @Stoney Ranger posted up in post #8: https://www.4runners.com/threads/storage-in-the-4runner.39462/#post-611679

I agree it is a bit expensive, but it is pretty neat.

I also have a tool box sandwiched between some moving blankets. The box holds my heavy duty jumper cables, some tools, rolled up coveralls, some gloves, small towel, etc. The moving blankets are handy for when I need less sport and more ute.

Thanks. I don't get out as much as I used to but I've taken a lot of photographs.

I ordered the 3 Plano medium totes. Thanks for the great idea! Looks like they will fit under the tonneau cover as well, which is a must to reduce visibility

    I have 2 storage boxes.

Day to day (jumper cables, air pump, towels...) is in a storage container bungeed down in the back. Used to use 2 when camping, but split it up with a ROAM storage box i have on the roof with my off road stuff.

I’ll have to check but for the things I have in there, they’re pretty snug where they are and can’t really fall down or fly up - the only issue I ran into was a mysterious knocking noise that turned out to be my tire gauge tube bouncing against the body.

But I imagine small items could go bye-bye pretty quickly.
