    Hello,

I'm brand new to this forum and I am new to not only 4runners, but also infotainment systems. My last vehicle was a 2008 Dakota.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn off the navigation system. Whenever I'm driving around it's always telling me to turn and go somewhere I don't want to go. Of course, I could plug in my destination every time, but I don't want to do that. It's not necessary when I know where I'm going. The best I've figured out is how to mute the navigation system, but it still pops up on my cluster every time it wants me to turn. Super annoying. There's got to be a cancel button. I don't need constant navigation. I'll turn it on when I need it. Otherwise, be off!! And yes, I've read the chapter on navigation in the infotainment owner's manual. Couldn't see anything about an off button.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Help us understand, when you are driving, the Navigation will randomly pick a destination and begin navigating there? Or are you saying it's always navigating to the same location you didn't pick?

You should be able to touch the screen and have options pop up.

Year? Model? There's a severe lack of information...there's a lot of smart members here, but with the exception of @Borracho Loco, none are mind readers.

I have a few destinations saved. Whichever was the last destination I chose, it will continue to tell me how to get there. I could change the destination, but that doesn't solve my problem. I just want it to stop giving me directions.

Hmm, I always assumed that if I deleted the destination, I would have to type in and save that destination again in the future. But maybe not. If it will save my favorites, then this is the obvious soltuion, which I haven't tried yet. Thank you! I'll give it a try next time I go for a spin and let the thread know if this solved my problem.

I understand what you are saying and I thought it to be somewhat counterintuitive as well, as if you are deleting a saved destination. At least on my 2019 what it does is stop navigation for the current, selected destination.

So, if I understand you. You state "Whichever was the last destination I chose, it will continue to tell me how to get there."
And then you state "I just want it to stop giving me directions."

    Anyone else see what's happening?

Don't choose a destination and it will stop navigating!
    If I'm reading this correctly.

I do think there's an interesting underlying implementation choice here. If you enter a destination and then decide not to go there (without cancelling), the nav system will never give up on directing you, even if you turn the engine off. For me, that's a convenience. I don't have to re-enter a destination when I stop for gas or food, or even a hotel night. However, I can see how it would be annoying if you don't still want to go there and don't know how to make it stop.

No Navigation for the SR5? (Just picked my 2024 up on Sunday and was told there is no Navigation built in) What model 4Runner do you have?

Bottom right corner of the touch screen while in "maps", hit the red X. That cancels navigation to a location.

If you delete a destination, it will still be saved in previous destinations

Thanks for the replies everyone. Finally went for a spin again, and yes, the delete destination button is the way to go.
