Being a fan of FJ40's (I've had two), I like that!!! How does it attach?

    Oooh look, another mod.....

    Glue?
    Adhesive?
    Magnet?
    Will Power?

I honestly have no idea. But I agree, it does look cool.

I don't hate the retro emblem, but I would wager that most people would just assume that a 4Runner is four-wheel drive. I bet most people don't know that 2Runners even exist.

I can't fault you for thinking of adding an emblem though, there's been times where I've thought of adding a emblem that reads "4.SLOW"

The really old school ceramic embossed ones I've seen have a hollow back and bolt on...

the flat ones like I applied, have 3 strips of double sided tape on the back and just stick on

Wife told me to order one for our anniversary in August (after 37 years, not much I need or want).

Every time I see one of these badges, I want to get out a black sharpie and write " = 16 "

You know, to show off my awesome math skills.

Why not! It's a 4x4 and it's YOUR suv. Do what you want. The only thing I would find "out of place" is putting a chrome on a black out and vice-versa.

Just be happy it's not a 2WD. Some call that a 2Runner. lol

The "V6" idea is good but the "4WD" is so girlish. I'd rather "V6 4X4."

I would think that 99.9% don't care, and any that do care already know that a 4R is 4WD, unless you live somewhere where 2WD is the norm. Is here such a place?

The Land Cruiser 4x4 emblem is added more as a tribute to the heritage of the brand. Granted, many 4Runner drivers today don't recognize the linkage. The emblem wasn't about them.

The 4WD could differentiate between the 4 wheel and 2 wheel drive, but considering every last 5th gen to come off the assembly line is a V6, I don't see the draw...

    When I forget if I bought a 2WD or 4WD, I look at this… “Oh yeah. That's right! It's a 4WD."

When I’m driving around in my 5th gen, with its perfectly adequate V6, and I come up behind a 4th gen with that V8 badge on the back, I feel something. And it’s complicated. It’s not so much jealousy as wistfulness. “Golly, I wish the 5th gen had a version with the V8.” The V8 tugs on something, that same something that gets tugged on by a Harley or a 1911. The V6 is becoming like the V8 in that respect. The place where the line is drawn. You took away my V8, and now I have a V6, and that’s okay … but that’s where I draw the line. That far, and no farther. Seeing the V8 badge on the back of a 4th gen reminds me of the compromises I’ve made, and gives me resolve to compromise no more. If a V6 badge on my 4Runner can inspire an upcoming 6th gen owner in the same way, I’d feel I’d done something worthwhile.

2025 owners will get the same feeling seeing a V6 badge, I suppose. They'll know it's not in the cards for them.

...and that is why you should slap the V6 emblem on your ride. To flex on the 6th genner's, and the Jeep owners with the lesser 4banger.

Yes prior to the 6th gen runners putting a "V6" was kinda redundant but now, to each their own.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised to see this become a phenomenon for Runner owners putting these emblems on their vehicles to make a statement.

Well, the original Land Cruiser was a Willys knock-off, so it's not surprising that the 4WD emblem was also quite similar.

Why? Who do you want to read that emblem and what would you like them to do with that information?

Except unlike the V8, they won't be missing anything. The feeling will be more relief than anything else.
