I just purchased a 2014 trail. It has 71000 miles on it and a message came on maintenance required soon. The truck had a owner’s manual but not a schedule maintenance listing. Can someone tell me what maintenance is required at that mileage. If possible where I can get a copy one. Thanks for any help that u give. Looking forward to getting to know the site

Talking about the maint req light? It automatically comes on every 5k miles after it’s cleared. Yes, you’ll have to clear it per the manual

you can go to a Toyota dealership and get the maintenance schedule .. the oil changes the light comes on .. typical for many vehicles manufactured today.. also toyota told me oil changes are required every 6 months or 10K miles. then the tires 5K miles tire rotation .. the miles you have on it if its 4WD the transfer case fluid should be changed and the front rear diff gear oil. the drive shaft axles require greasing and also the axle bolts require torquing.. transmission fluid level should also be checked now ..engine and cabin air filter check often 5K miles..

I do the oil changes every 7500/10K miles every year no problems oil looks like new.rotate the tires 10K miles tires perfect stock tires. every oil change I check all the fluids if it looks bad I replace ..axle bolts I torque.
other items frame rust I use a rust inhibitor so no frame rust. drop the spare tire lube the winch wash tire spray with silicone and check air pressures ..tire wheel nuts , use torque wrench check for proper torque 76-80ft LBS.. do not allow air guns on these vehicles damage may happen odd ball lug nuts..good luck with your purchase.

I'd like to "butt in" since you have your answer, same topic.
What's everybody's opinion on changing the a/t juice? I now have a Taco and a 4 runner, both around the time that I'd be changing the a/t fluid on my previous Detroit 4x4's. (75k & 80k) I don't buy the lifetime fluid and it seem's to be an issue that's not covered in the owner books unless I skipped it.

on a GM truck / GM vehicle the transmission fluid requires changing 30-40K miles. reason is the transmission creates debris as it operates as it is designed. the filter must also be replaced as it will effect the flow.

On a toyota vehicle different trans design . fluid does not create much debris. the transmission has a filter screen . Toyota dealerships recommend 120K miles on the fluid changing. many have done the fluid changes on Toyota and found the pan clean but the fluid over time should be changed due to the heat effecting the fluids ability .

on any vehicle use the manufactures recommended fluid.. GM pre2006 the transmission fluid was Dexron III that fluid created acid damage after 20K miles so that is why GM does not use any Dexron III now .. the now GM approved fluid is Dexron VI. proper fluids require correct viscosity and additives to keep the trans working for a long time with no isssues..

I am "old school" when it comes to these extended fluid service schedules that you see on everything from cars/ trucks to heavy machinery and over the road truck engines. In the long run, oil is cheap, thanks for your explanation. I guessed that a juice transmission was juice transmission and what I had done forever on my (some great and some shit) Detroit a/t's is was what should be done, and to be honest with myself, that was when we got rid of vehicles at 100k. Still, I'd sure feel better having a dipstick on my Toyotas even just to look/smell at the fluid.

I agree that Toyota should have a dip stick to check fluid level and condition. since no dip stick it is a long process. also the fluid temp must be 110F then check for the proper level .. most transmissions when at operating temp are in the 180F range. I do monitor the Toyota tranny temp with my scan Gauge II .. most all the time in warm weather 180F.. winter cold 160F.

On GM vehicles the fluid check is at the normal operating temp ..so more of a issue with Toyota , and I am very sure Toyota dealerships , when they do service our vehicles do not go thru this process..
2 year free service , probably not even check the other fluid levels and condition.
