    congratulations...

    but a 3-6 month wait for a 2024?

    In 6 months...its gonna be 2025

Canada has started taxing you guys for air...
    $100 air tax?

So far, at least here in Texas, they don't charge us for air

6 months is December, but it takes 2 months to ship from Japan to here so my vehicle *could* be built around October 2024 at the lastest. I’m guaranteed to get a 2024 not redesign year 2025

The tax is on the Airconditioning I believe, something Enviromental? I’m pretty sure that’s what it is I’ve lost track of all our taxes. There’s a sales tax on our carbon tax, taxing a tax.

If I cut down on my breathing, do I get to pay less air tax?

If you entirely stop breathing then they’ll only tax you on the value of everything you own as if that’s how much money you made the year you die, which puts you in a 50% tax bracket, which your kids have to pay to get your stuff. BUT THEN since you’ve reduced your carbon to zero you don’t have to pay any more taxes.

Thank you very much! The wait will be the worst, and it’s technically my wife’s SUV, sold her on it due to reliability and 7 seats for the many children she wants. Luckily she loves big tires and off-road stuff so I can customize it how I like. Everything I buy for it is me “buying something for her” so that’s also going to be a win/win lol

Hahaha yes, the Canadian peso which is worse because $62,800 is actually $90,000 before income tax, and 12% sales tax? Ouch.

You want the kids? Only if I can get the truck. Makes for a great story for those kids and a reason for that truck to be passed over from one to the other kid.

We’re aiming for 30+ years. Guys on the Tacoma forum give me grief about it, but my maintenance schedule for my current Tacoma and my future 4Runner is
    Oil at 1,600kms
    Oil at 8,000kms
    Oil every 8,000kms after that.
    Transmission FLUSH every 40,000kms
    Front diff every 16,000kms
Transfer case & rear diff every 24,000kms
    Air Filters as needed
Coolant & power steering every 72,000kms
    Etc. all full synthetic Amsoil.

I also fully pressure wash and detail the undercarriage every week. (No rust) Full interior shampoo and polish every spring and fall, in spring I crawl under and sand any rust spots starting, and apply fresh primer/frame paint. I am German, I am OCPD. If anyone’s wondering why I change front diff at 16,000kms it’s because it barely takes any oil so it gets dirtier a lot faster I find.

they say it’s a waste of money and overkill. I say overkill is underrated.IMG_6055.jpg IMG_6054.jpg
Can you tell it’s almost out of warranty?

This thread has so much potential! Potentially the last 5th gen ever….oil change intervals…and Canadian politics!! :D

First off, @Tacoma4runnerbeachboy90 , congrats on the purchase and hope the wait is bearable.

And that tacoma, what a color!

Although, a transmission flush every 40,000 Kanadian Miles? I fully support excessive maintainance, (I really do. Just ask @djwantke about the cistene chapel treatment I give the ceiling of my undercarriage) but the transmission is something I’ve decided on not going overboard. I hear that the suspended particulates in the fluid from the clutch bands are important for long life. So in a certain way, the fluid itself is clutch material. I did my first pan drain and refill around 30,000 American miles, but I decided to hold off on the next drain and refill till probably 100k.

@Yotaholic , I think they have a CPAP type dongle you can wear that meters your air use so you can pay taxes for only the air you breathe. Everyone can pay their fair share I say…I’ll just breath shallow and stay on the couch and not suck up air like all those other air breathers. ;)

I think I would also want to be a responsible human and minimize my air intake. Help our beloved environment, decrease entropy and slow down the death of our beloved universe.
    Thanks!

I’ve talked to a lot of transmission guys, really well rated in their profession and they all tell me transmission flushes are something you either start doing when the vehicle is new, or don’t do at all.

If you want to do flushes you start right away when it’s newish (40,000 kms) so you’re flushing pretty clean fluid constantly. If you wait until 80,000+ then don’t flush at all, just pan drops, because if you flush now you’re pushing contaminants through and you can get things plugged up.

so I opted to flush frequently replacing all fluid so it’s never dirty, never wears. I remember we pulled a transmission that was flushed on the same schedule and they stripped it apart at like 250,000kms and it looked like Christmas brand new shiny almost no wear. Wish I could find it.. that settled it for me back as a teen

I am assuming by flush you mean drain and fill. You should do that every 30 to 40k miles. I will do it at 40, though I should have done it early. I have beaten the crap out of my truck on the trails. And I drive fast.

Nope, my buddy owns a shop I pull into a bay when he’s not busy/closed and we disconnect the transmission lines, pin the thermostat, and hook up a flush machine that pushes transmission fluid through under regulated pressure as the trucks running. It actually “flushes” the transmission, replacing 100% of the fluid inside including the torque converter. I also flush through more fluid than the transmission requires so the last quart of so is new fluid.

You shouldn't do that. Drain and fill is fine. Flushes are problematic, wait for replies from folks who know more about this truck. Open a thread on this topic.

I’ve done them my whole life, never had transmission issues. Only issues arise when you flush too late or not frequent enough. Almost everyone who has flushed and had issues did it at too high of mileage, or waited too long between flushes, or shop did it wrong because they threw some kid at it lol

Were twins! My 4Runner is the exact same package! Colour and everything! Mine is expected to arrive in early July, but the only concern I have for yours is that they are shutting down assembly of the 2024/5th Gen soon, so I would see if they can snatch one from another dealer or something like that to ensure you get what you want. I’m not sure what province you are in but here in Ontario, they had to get another dealer to trade with them for mine.

Very nice! What?? Don’t do this to me :lalala: I’m in Manitoba, they assured me I could get a new 5th gen and the money I paid is refundable (in writing) if they don’t deliver but I just reallly want a 5th gen and will be absolutely gutted if I miss the boat.

There are a few people in line in front of me, I find out exactly how many next week. Apparently my dealer only gets 2-3 4Runners alotted to them a month and they’re not all SR5. I thought they were running production until December, if it’s ending soon though I might be fucked. :notsure:
