Picked up my TRD Off Road Premium two days ago. I formatted a small USB flash drive (FAT32), put three photos on there, and when I put it in the slot to upload to head unit I get the message above.

The same flash drive works fine in my RAV4. Before I take 4Runner in for service (seems apparent that it's an issue with my vehicle), does anyone have any suggestions?

I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
I cant remember the instructions off the top of my head but I think they have to be in a folder with a specific name for it to see them

I cant recall, exactly, but you have to put something like .startup or something like that on the file name for the source to see it.. search on YouTube for it. That's how I did mine, some dude had a vid to tell you what to put on the file names

Edit (i wasnt even close lol )

I did all that. The problem is not an ability to recognize the files, it can’t even access the thumb drive. The RAV4 sees the thumb drive just fine.

Just hooked my iPhone up using the USB port and it worked fine (charged phone and played music). That means that the USB port is fine, just some mismatch with the thumb drive. I'll try a different thumb drive using the same format (FAT32) and file structure to try to isolate the problem and report back.

I tried a different thumb drive and it worked as advertised (I copied the folder and files to the new drive). The first drive must not have able to seat properly in the 4Runner, because it worked fine in the RAV4. Thanks for all the suggestions...

I had the same issue tried 3 or 4 different usb drives. Pulled a brand new 128GB sandisk and it worked. But what I found is that the partition was MBR and the rest were GPT. Hope this helps others.

I'm having the same issue, tried two different USB Thumb Drives...granted they are pretty old.
