    I used them in the 90s when the car headunit didn't have Bluetooth or capability of plugging a thumb drive to play large no of MP3s. Nowadays phones capability of storing crazy amount of music and have Bluetooth don't see a reason to have these.

    You are bringing back memories- but it wasn't MP3s and thumb drives we where missing in the 90s, it was the lack of a CD player :)

    The other fun one was the CD player adapters that went into the tape deck......

    Too many mods and too much money
    High School in 1979 driving a 67' Ford Wagon w a stand alone 8 track sending signal through a book shelf speaker, all of it sitting on the floor board. Of course complimented with an FM converter through the AM radio.
    Needless to say when I got my first am/fm cassette deck was a BIG day.
