Moving from stock wheels/tires on my 5th gen to some 17x8.5 -10 and 285/70 rubber. I've narrowed it down to these two tires and can't really decide. Any first-hand experience with either? My priorities are dry performance, then wet performance, then snow performance. Actual rock crawling/off-roading isn't a main priority. Beyond that, I'm trying to keep weight down as much as possible. Another contender is the Toyo Open Country AT3. But I think I'd rather go with either the Falken or Baja Boss for better reported road noise and snow performance.

The 4W is the heavier tire. The Baja Boss seems nice, but maybe more road noise? It's probably a toss up either way.

    I went with the A/T4W's in 285/75/17.

I don't have experience with the Baja Boss but here are some takeaways compared to my old Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

    Dry pavement traction great
Wet pavement traction is fantastic. Muuuuch better than the Nittos.
Tread wear is much better than the Nittos.
Very quiet on the road for such a big tire.
The sidewall is super beefy and gives me a lot of confidence when airing down on the trail

One note on the Nitto RG's is they really seemed to dry rot quickly. Cracks in the rubber started to appear in less than six months of use.

I was between the same two tires. The shop I go to recommended the Falkens so that's what I went with.

TLDR: I don't have experience with the Baja Boss. But the Falken A/T4W's have my complete approval. Wonderful tires.
Yes they are heavy. But that is the trade off for such a beefy sidewall. It's a great tire for my use.

    That's helpful, thanks.

Yeah, for the size and load rating I'm considering the 4Ws are the heaviest.

    Stock wheels/tires: 65 lbs.
    New wheels/Baja Boss: 70 lbs.
    New wheels/4W: 75 lbs.

Yeah if you’re just worried about weight the Toyo AT3 takes the cake.

The Falkens are heavy but honestly I don’t notice the weight much.

Here’s an interesting video regarding an experiment between heavy vs lightweight wheels/ tires.

I’m very impressed with the wet performance of the Wildpeaks I got recently.
