3rd gen 4runner key reminder dinger delete

I've had to do some work on my 4Runner and that required leaving the key on ACC, with the door open. DING DING DING DING.... I thought I was about to loose my mind!
Someone, somewhere, must have had the same experience and knows how to disable the stupid thing. I always have a spare key in my wallet, so even if I did lock myself out, I can get back in easily enough. (As long as I don't leave my wallet in the thing!)
I did a search on the forum so as to not have to post a new thread but came up blank.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
