The most bestest super mega powerz engine ever!

If they have to ask if it's worth it then it shows you how much they know about engines and vehicles in general.

Oddly enough, my 2019 is actually faster than my '03 V8 was. But, the later V8's got more power.

If I just wanted to keep up with a 4th gen V8, I'd bolt on a Magnuson supercharger and be done with it.

The tunes are great for these 4runners. Because you feel the difference in the low end. Also help with gear hunting.

Are "most" people asking this question?

I think a good portion of the folks who buy those things just like the way they sound. I didn't expect anything else from the one I put on my TC.

I do realize that there are people who are just naive and believe the advertising. But, I don't think they represent "most" enthusiasts.

I'm not going to comment on Raptor lights. I'll just point out that mine doesn't have them, and it never will.

    I'm just joking...or am I.

I've been around too long and have seen enough to tell me most owners don't know too much. Remember people draining the trans fluid instead of the engine oil like every month?

I got one too for sound but eventually the performance plastic tabs will break and I'm not replacing it. Performance metal clips were too expensive.

    Rough country 3” lift,
Ok listen, I know it’s a brick on wheels. I know it’s not a race car. I know it will get shitier gas mileage. I know what the motor is and isn’t. All I’m looking for is an extra 30-50 hp. I get the super charger thing and may go that route. Decent heads wou be nice, guess I could port and polish. BTW you guy sure get off track easy. LOL I going to be pull a ski boat and just looking for a little more. Anyway what red blooded American male wouldn’t want more hp.

A positive displacement blower like the Magnuson will definitely improve low to mid range power. I had the TRD (magnuson) on my Tacoma and even hill climbs unloaded were easier and didn't require a downshift like the truck tends to do.

You also lose the 2 stage intake manifold and rely on the blower for power in that range for normal driving.

Honestly, I hear good feedback on some of the tunes. For a few hundred bucks, you get a little more grunt in the midrange RPM's, which is really where it will help thr most. I'd give that a shot before doing anything drastic.

If that's not cutting it, I'd go for the supercharger.

I wouldn't bother with head work. I just don't see you getting a decent return for the effort.

Yeah, I don't care. The 4Runner can do plenty that the pilot can't. If I wasn't using it for off-roading, I'd be in a Highlander or a GX.

I suggest overland tailor tunes(ott) look then up on here.

I do enjoy my injen intake, urd mid pipe and trd exhaust. But I can't say they added any more "power". Mostly just noise makers.

The guys doing "built" turbo setups on the XR on XRunderground all blew the motor up because of the powdered metal rods, i too popped an engine, powdered metal rods were the weak link with too much RPM, the piston speeds at high RPM pulled the rods apart at TDC. No detonation, no knock, mine missed a shift once, auto trans, 2nd to 3rd it didnt shift and hit the rev limiter and scattered, broke almost all of the rods and windowed the block below almost every cylinder. One of the rods cut thru the oil pan. Mine was a TRD Supercharged double cab TRD Sport. With the TRD S/C, pulley, DT long tubes and APR X1 ECU it was running 13.1 @ 103mph on stock bridgestone tires with no weight shaving, tailgate and spare tire under it and all. SuperWerty did a bunch of weight shaving pulling seats out and all and was able to cut his 1/4 mile time by a half second but he still was not running the times i was running. Quite a few of the turbo guys scattered engines around 450-500hp. The engine would rev so fast, with the higher rev limiters and lack of timing retard at higher RPM, the engine would get up in the revs so fast it would pull the rods apart. If you were going to build one the first thing to do would be replace the rods. Mine ran like an absolute champ, after the engine let go i pulled a lotta stuff off it and took it easy after that.

with a turbo and injectors, and a tune, the 2JZ will make 650whp all day long without ever touching the engine.
with head studs and a bigger turbo you can make 850whp all day long.
if you are talking about the 1100hp+ mega builds, sure you need to go inside the engine.

    Hey boss
the heads are absolutely phenomenal a port and polish will likely do you zero, and likely cause you to lose HP if you just have Jimbo at the head shop up the road whittle on them.
you need to find the money to get you a Magnuson supercharger and you will be done with wanting more power. The instant power on tap even at low RPM and low throttle position is absolutely amazing and worth every single penny it costs to purchase it. Pulling, towing, climbing hills, everything you can imagine, it helps your engine do it better.
t.me/has had 2 boosted 1GR-FE engines and loves every minute of them. My tacoma with the TRD Supercharger had 275,000 miles on it when i sold it and i beat the ever living crap out of that truck for the first 60,000 miles of its life. I towed trailers cross country that i had no business pulling, i drag raced every weekend night for the first two years i owned it, outran every truck at every red light any time someone dared to try me. I can assure you putting a magnuson on your 4runner will cure your power ailments
