How To Properly Use The Parking Brake ?!!

Yes almost everything new has electronic parking brake now.


I hate them. Honestly I don’t even like the pedal style parking brake either. I love and old fashion hand brake but those went the way of the dinosaur…

 

Stop.
Shift to neutral.
Release foot brake.
Apply parking brake.
Put it in park.

This takes all the load off of the transmission park gear.

 

the million-dollar question though is how steep is the incline?

 

For me, hand brake is important on a manual. I don't have enough feet to get started again when stopped on an uphill.

 

I don’t mess around…I adjusted the parking brake to a point that it can hold a hill, while in drive or reverse, while I’m giving it gas. I’ll double check in a bit, but I think I remember it holding 1700 or 1800 rpm in drive.

edit: it can hold about 1400 to 1600 RPM on flat ground
