I wasn’t born here, but got here as fast as I could! Been lurking here for quite some time. Not new to off-roading (have a built JK and a Bronco I’m looking to sell) but a 5th Gen might be a thing for me. I have a deposit on a new LC250 but needs/interests might be shifting. I put also money down for dibs on a ORP and I am only interested in a Terra colored rig, maybe an underground. Dealer says no guarantees.

Question for you peeps in the know…does Toyota mix 4Runner models, trims and colors randomly or are certain trims and colors already made? I am in New England and hoping to get the special color for the ORP to get the last version of the old schooler. I am not sure I want the LC this year…maybe next year or 2 years from now. Ultimately, I am looking to run this rig from the east coast to CO, UT, AZ, and other states for 2-3 weeks each April. Looking for reliability and classic good functionality. Thanks for your advice!

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Toyota builds/ships certain trims/colors to certain regions. For example, in the SE Region like Texas, Alabama, Florida, they don't ship 4Runners with KDSS. If you want a certain trim/color, expand your search nationwide. You're (almost) 6 months into the year and I bet they'll stop building the 5th gen in the next 3-4 months. Act fast!

Welcome to the forum. Everything is allocation based. The bigger the dealership, the more likely they are to be allocated a model/color/package that might be less available at a smaller dealer. As already said, different regions get different options, or the lack of. For instance, in the Guld States region where I am, you aren’t going to find one without the moonroof or with KDSS. I looked all over the country for the exact model I wanted and just got lucky and found an allocation in San Antonio. Have your credit card ready to make the deposit and get busy looking. Good luck!

The next year models usually hit the stealership lots early as October so we should anticipate the 6th gen as early as then so around September will probably be the last of the 5th gens that’s how it has been historically every year

Thanks all for the intel. So if they finish 5th Gen production in let’s say July, how does it take for units to get to the northeast? Month or two? I’ve solidified my deposit and now I wait…

Probably, it goes to the port of Long Beach where for you they’ll put it on a train the stealership can track it too

Northeast comes to an East coast port (Baltimore?)...

I think it was like 7-8 weeks from the time it shipped to the time it landed at the dealer....

I think 4Runner production has already ended...and all the 4runners are already on the boats
    for consideration...

-2014 was the last year for the FJ Cruiser in the USA, the latest production of those was July 2014...but that model was still being produced for ROR
-At least with Gulf States Toyota, ~April 1 2024 was last day to special order to spec
-local dealer stock is getting lower

Or, they could still be making them and Gulf States Toyota are just being greedy aholes and dealer inventory is dropping cause they are selling a lot and giving discounts and special interest rates

Do you have your VIN yet? Or the stock number? If you do, you can search the Toyota site for an ETD to your dealer
Search for 4Runners like you ordered, Toyota will have a list of them...click on each truck til you find your ordered VIN/Stock number
since you already ordered it, yours will be marked 'sale pending'
    https://www.toyota.com/

When I searched for an unsold TRD Pro in Underground the latest estimated delivery date to a dealer I saw was June 10 to July 13
