I searched this forum and haven't found an answer. Does anyone know if the touch screen on the head unit on my '21 4runner is replaceable? Mine is pretty buffed/scratched from touching it with dirty fingers I guess.. I see a ton of them advertised on the web ("Replace Touch Screen Glass Digitizer") but have no idea if they're just selling an add-on plastic/glass screen to add to your existing unit or if it's actually a replacement screen. No instructions so I'm thinking it's just an addon like for my phone screen. Anybody know if the screen glass is replaceable?

A word of caution if you haven't worked with those fine ribbon connectors before: be gentle an take your time. The thin wires and their connectors are tougher than they might seem, but they offer a great opportunity to create gremlins.

After perusing this and other videos I guess there's 2 parts to this and I'd only need to replace the digitizer, the part on top that gets touched (this guy got it from aliexpress for $16.80 including shipping, a few years ago)... I'll look into this. Yes, extra careful is the word of the day. Some buff marks on the digitizer is a lot less worrisome than a non functioning screen. Thanks for the link.

You must be an engineer or an Electrical Engineer! I'm in IT so I learned a looooong time ago to be very very VERY careful with ribbons on motherboards.
