I’m happy you’re happy. Genuinely. I love the sierras. I also live riding my bike from my house to the beach. Being 30 minutes from Baja. A 20 minute drive to the airport. 25 minute trolley ride to a ball game. Concerts Etc etc.

    To each their own.

I find it quite ironic that many here don't seem to realize that if California (the govt.) had its way we would not be allowed to own or drive our gasoline powered 4Runners at all. But they are good at the "death by a thousand cuts" strategy. Slowly introducing regulations, but with their intended purpose of driving up costs and making barriers so high people will just stop driving. If the 100% EV mandates coming up in just a few short years don't convince you there is a problem here, nothing will. And lastly, California is huge and uses that and its money to bully the federal govt. and other states into following their lead. Last I heard, California was still JUST one state out of 50.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
Fully agree with your DUI plan…..cell phones are just as bad too.

How could there be such a thing as bad timing when it's referring to leaving California? I know a few people who have left over the past several years, and all are thrilled with their decisions. They were getting financially destroyed. And doubling in value over 7 years - my house in central Ohio has doubled in value in that time.

Should they also analyze you urine for drugs every time you get behind the wheel? Where does this "sensible legislation" end?

Is a California Republican the same as a mid western Republican? It’s like Maine Democrats, they are not the same Democrats as other places. Here is the kicker, most of us are pretty much in the middle and want the same things, we just have people in power that are doing everything in their power to not let us realize it.

Lets forget about the breathalyzer or UA. What if it were entirely accomplishable by some sort of non-invasive eye scan? And I mean almost 100% accurate for detecting impairment. Would you still object? If so, on what grounds?

So, if I'm solo camping in the middle of nowhere, and I get injured somehow, and I have had 3 beers, I should just be stuck in the woods bleeding to death?

Maybe a rare possibility. But, a possibility nonetheless.

I understand that drunk driving is a real problem. But, I drive drunk better than most people drive sober. I don't do it anymore, but I did for a long time. I'm not saying it was a smart decision. Just playing Devil's Advocate I guess.

Not to join in this pissing contest, but if you paid any attention to any major market anywhere in the US in that time period, this isn't the flex you think it is.

Good point. I was looking at places in Florida awhile back, and it almost seems like they've tripled in that time period. $500K for places that were $170-180K not really that long ago. Pretty much ruined my retirement plan.

If this passes, would Toyota only build this feature into 6th gen that ship to CA or do you think they would add it in all?

Seems like they could do this with just a software update.

Bill states 50% of vehicles by 2029. I wonder which vehicles Toyota would implement this on first.

Corolla, Camry, and Rav4 have the most sells.

Any new infrastructure bill should include funding for single lanes with high barriers on both sides for speeders and drunk drivers to use. This way when they wreck and kill only themselves and not those of us who are careful drivers, you just scoop the carnage out with a lane-wide loader.

Don’t even look at the property taxes and insurance cost. The price of the house is only the start.

And Florida is as loony right as California is loony left. For those of us that actually DO fall somewhere in the middle (and not just claim to be middle while chanting the extremest views of one side or another) neither CA or FL really fits….

I’ll give another possibility. Camping, we smoke a little marijuana and something happens to someone, sorry my vehicle won’t start because I took a couple hits.

Living the Kalifornia life. Yes, it's crazy over-regulated. Yes, we pay outrageous taxes. Yes, crime and substance abuse are out of control because of the agenda.

What's a shame is all the Disney employee pedos that our loony right Sherriffs arrest every year. Florida is loony indeed, BUT, we will not just stand by and let crime, drug abuse, and pedophilia run rampant. Period. B B B that's all folks.

The manufacturers only want to build '50 state' cars. And because California has so much power and control over the auto industry they just go along with their dictates. Forcing everyone not in California to pay even though not required.

Curious to see a graph of receipants of federal funds by state. That would put this in a proper perspective.

Weird that they don't go after the Catholic priests and Scout leaders in Florida as well, only Disney employees.

Oh yea they do, they just don't get caught in stings. Personal friend of mine is an attorney who had the very first priest extradited from the EU back in 1988. You just won't hear about the priests on the msm

I think the intended consequence is to mandate the car to always track your location. You can still disable it today on a modern car. If it is "safety equipment" then you won't be able to.

Right, so much illegal stuff here, like:
building schools next to chemical plants,
    pre-employment testing for smoking pot,
coal-rolling and modifying one's exhaust to emit even more pollutants,
    tannerite,
drill for oil on the beach,
    riding without a helmet.

lol. I assume you're in Idaho or Texas? Texas, big lol, where it is illegal to own more than four dildos. True fact, but keep hating on Cali if that makes you happy. Or Idaho, which is experiencing a loss of doctors because they're moving out of state due to Idaho's restrictive maternity laws.

Let me give you an example of extreme government intrudence. The country where I am from actually has a rule in one of the most polluted cities where on one day only vehicles with odd numbers can ply and the next day vehicles with even numbers will ply on the roads to mitigate vehicular traffic.
Roadside shady number plate shops were having a field day.
And we do have cars that beep if a particular speed is exceeded. And it's a continuous beep, not a gentle reminder.
