Seems like the new 4runner is becoming the new taco...and toyota is catering more on the out door off-roading...but what about the non off roaders who just wants a new sexy luxurous 4runner to cruise around in the city in ?......There's gotta be more trims on the way.

Honestly I'm just not feeling the new 'Runner, even if I had the bread,I'll rather buy a '24 TRD Off-Road Premium.....5th Gen 4 Life !!!

This. They just aren't advertising those as much because they need to be pushing the shit out of the off road packages to get people to shell out the bags and bags of cash for them

I'll have to double check that.

On the new Tacomas (from toyota website)
    • Full-Time 4WD Standard on Limited grade with On-Demand 4WD on TRD Sport, TRD Off Road, TRD Pro, Trailhunter Grades

On the new 4Runners (from toyota website)

4Runner will be offered in 2WD, part-time 4WD or Full-time 4WD. 2WD models will feature an automatic limited-slip differential (Auto LSD), and four-wheel-drive models have an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case with high/low range along with Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) and an automatic limited-slip differential (Auto LSD). An electronic locking rear differential is standard on TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro and Trailhunter grades. The Limited is offered with an available a full-time four-wheel-drive system with a center locking differential on i-FORCE MAX models, while this setup is standard on Platinum grades.

The Multi-Terrain Select system now functions in both 4WD-High and 4WD-Low. This offers adjustable settings to help control wheel spin on a variety of terrain such as Mud, Dirt, and Sand. 4Runner also adopts the new, quieter CRAWL Control function that acts as a low-speed, off-road cruise control that allows the driver to focus on steering. When traction is extremely limited, the available electronically activated locking rear differential can help split power 50/50 to the rear wheels. Downhill Assist Control is another off-road feature available and helps the driver navigate descents by limiting

limited FT4WD is only available in the HV version, if you get the non HV version do you get a the part time 4wd system or the 2wd version only?

platinum only comes in HV version if i remember correctly which means FT4WD only.

Just so you can hear me in the back the Trail hunter does not have full time 4 wheel drive so why would the 4runner trail hunter have it .

The first ever i-FORCE MAX Tacoma also brings standard 4-wheel drive that is ready for the road or trail. TRD and Trailhunter grades have standard part-time 4-wheel drive with an electronically controlled 2-speed transfer case. When the trail gets truly demanding, a front Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism is standard on TRD Pro and Trailhunter and is available on TRD Off-Road. The premium Limited i-FORCE MAX grade has full-time 4-wheel drive with an electronic locking center differential and a

Still can't read huh? That's ok. I got you bru.

Posted this in response to Wax poetic. Double checked and verified it's not full time. But yah, go ahead and spend more time looking for answers from the vloggers.

Buddy buddy , I already know the trail hunter is not full time neither is the pro because Sheldon the head engineer literally says it in several videos . Plus buddy posted it right above you. All that says is that the trims either have it or don't but please keep trying to prove me wrong as you look foolish . Those 2 models are off road models , they don't come with full time , only part time . And I'm sure someone else will eventually say the samething but you won't believe them .

Did you happen to read the part where he said he would have to double check, and then posted the correct information?

Excuse me , did you read his response where he responded like a dick to me for no reason . If he hadn't spoken to me the way he did and just owned he was wrong I wouldn't have had an issue . But he didn't, he chose to be rude about it even though he was wrong . I expect that from jeep guys but not here.

To be fair, I don't even know what you guys are arguing about. I was just pointing out that he had corrected himself earlier.

Either way, it seems like there's a surplus of rudeness all over this forum lately.

Reacting to the messages above, this is confusing as hell since it's not correct on many levels (if I understood correctly).
To be fair, editing your post with the correct info would be helpful

    Curious, why buy a 2Runner?

I feel like there are a lot of better options for daily driving and paved road duties, if you don't need 4WD.

Maybe I missed it, but do the new Toyota turbo engines require premium fuel?

that depends. on the LC250, reports are that it requires premium fuel (as denoted with a sticker on the fuel door inside), which will be a first for a non sports car toyota.
