2025 6th gen 4Runner Official Reveal Thread

Is there any chance that those bat shit crazy resale values on the old style Land Cruisers could become a thing for “Old School” 4runners…after they go turbo and never look back? Not that I would buy a 5th gen because of that reason, but it’d be a nice bonus. I’d probably only consider turbo charged anything if I lived in higher elevations, I never really crave speed or fast pickup.

 

I found a 84 FJ60 in a corn field and bought it for a $1000.00 Father son project, we donated the profits to charity. We were shocked at the sale price.

 

I hope it goes the other way and my value drops some... Haha. I keep my vehicles 10+years and the high resale on my Tacoma and T4r is killing me where I live with taxes.

 

Oh my fault, I was thinking of the FJ Cruiser but said Land Cruiser by accident. Wow can’t believe it was 10 years ago now that it was discontinued.

 

Doubt that ever happens for the 5th gen since they’ve been making them for 15 years. I bet the price will go down if anything.

 

Dude, I just went through with my 4Runner purchase!! So I could pretty much guarantee you that you’re right lol, I have always been a financial dark cloud anything that I touch plummets. If I bought something else the prices may have doubled lol. That’s cool though I just wanna drive it mostly!

Isn’t that just because inflation is out of control? All used vehicles are way more expensive than they normally would have been.

 

I drove an 84 once. Loved it. Tell us more about your project, it sounds great. How much time, difficulty of getting parts, etc. And maybe the ballpark sales price.

 

Started with the usual, gas, spark, air. Drained the old gas, added some bg44K almost straight. Got the old girl humming, pulled off all the old vac lines, pulled the carb, rebuilt, adjusted the slow idle set screw, wrapped up. Went for a cruise. FJ60's are double walled metal so off to the internet for parts. Ordered hood/fender out of New Hampshire. Stripped the interior, looking for seep on the underside. Front main/ rear main seals were smoked. Pulled the Tranny, seals in, ordered knuckle kit for the fronts, pinion seal, rewound original starter, found used front and rear bumpers, snake blinders. Buddy resurfaced the clutch plate, belts, battery, new vac sensors. Prep time, prime sand, fill prime sand fill, go to paint, reassemble, clear coat, wax, sound barrier down, new carpet, post. Gentleman out the west slope drove in. Claimed his father work for Toyota. It was his "dream" to buy the fj60 for him! Total BS. Made a deal, donated profits to Children's Hospital, Saint Judes, Samaritans purse. We saw the Fj60 sell in Denver for 30 percent more than what we sold it for. I'm not complaining, it was a great project for us.

you are comparing the old LC that were built with a 25yr lifespan in mind vs a suv that was a general purpose vehicle.

old LC had thicker and/or beefier components, hence the 25 yr min lifespan.

 

Wonder if I have 17” TRD Pro wheels if they will fit on a 2025 Limited? I think they should. Anyone think otherwise? plan to get a 2025 limited but the tires and wheels will need to be changed asap

 

I believe that wheels will not be compatible. I can't remember what I was told center bore possibly. I'm sure someone will chime in, but I know there is some change that would make it so you couldn't use the 25+ wheels on the 24 models as I wanted to get a set of the TrailHunters for my 5th gen.

 

Oh. Good info. Was planning on getting some TRD wheels for my 2023 and using them until I trade in then swapping to my 2025. Guess I’ll hold off on that

 

Yeah, I'd wait until you can verify. Or buy them and use them now and hold on to your stock wheels. When you sell/trade, put the stocks back on and sell the TRD wheels as they sell quick. Best of both worlds if you aren't caring about recouping money right now from your old wheels

Is it the same bolt pattern and hub bore as the current 4Runner?

I'm surprised 17's fit. I assumed they went to 18" to clear bigger brakes.

 

I believe the bolt pattern is but the bore is not but I'd let someone who knows for sure be the final say on that

 

Interiors are the same.
Frame is the same.
Engines are the same.
Suspension is the same (except 4Runner has diff tuning).
Wheels ... ?

Obviously nobody has seen the entire spec sheet for the new 4Runner for all the dimension, so nobody really knows. But given the fact everything else is the same, and given fact Toyota came out and said they tried to "share components as much as possible" ...

 

I was asking if it was the same as the current 4Runner. I already assumed it would share suspension and brake components with the 6th gen 4Runner.

 

I,d like to think that was the reason also, but I think a lot of it is looks. They wanted the 33s to make off-roaders happy, but they also have to satisfy the marketing department who tell them most consumers irrationally have been conditioned to think high profile tires = old and outdated.

 

That makes sense to me.

Based on things I'm hearing about the ability to clear larger tires without butchering the frame, and if 17's fit, that should make the upgrade more appealing to some.

 

Yeah, my buddy got a new Tundra, TRD off road package. It comes with 33s on 20 inch wheels...
Basically the same amount of rubber as my Rav4.

 

Grab a 2024 Pro? Or wait for a 2025 Pro?

 

Can't think of a reason to make it worth shelling out to upgrade to a '24 from a '21.

As for '25, I'd let the people who want it now to shell out for markups and wait for teething issues to pass or anything to reveal itself because there's no way it's not pricey when it drops.

 

Seems like the new 4runner is becoming the new taco...and toyota is catering more on the out door off-roading...but what about the non off roaders who just wants a new sexy luxurous 4runner to cruise around in the city in ?......There's gotta be more trims on the way.

Honestly I'm just not feeling the new 'Runner, even if I had the bread,I'll rather buy a '24 TRD Off-Road Premium.....5th Gen 4 Life !!!

This. They just aren't advertising those as much because they need to be pushing the shit out of the off road packages to get people to shell out the bags and bags of cash for them
