Hate to admit it, but the Ranger Raptor will destroy Taco/4R TRD Pro/Trailhunter sales

I would expect the Ranger Raptor to be similar.

+1. Most people lease, or buy on ultra long loan payment and trade up every 3 years.

Do you really think all these middle class folks that are driving around in BMWs, Lexuses and Silverados ( that are more expensive and luxurious than a Caddy ) could afford them if they where actually paid off?

….and fairly decent tires on excellent wheels…..and a killer sound system too.

Is an OR premium a more economical choice? Arguably yes. And a $50 bottle of California wine is probably 90% as good as a Chateau Margaux.

I’m actually working on a design for a modification to a truck frame for an industrial “cement mixer” and it’s all stainless steel. Not cheap, but no issues with strength.

A good Margaux is really nice, though. It's been more than 40 years, but I still remember that one bottle.

if I could fit in the front seat and didnt need more backseat room I’d totally go for a Ranger Raptor myself

I kind of agree with the OP. The pricing alone on the new Taco/4R is just too much. I think consumers will look elsewhere. I have always seen it this way. Toyota is an engine company. Ford is a car company. Two different things IMO.

You’re still overpaying for the pro trim when you break down the parts price over what the ORP has. Either way, they’re the same vehicle with the same performance just different aesthetics.

Never looked at Tacoma prices. Just checked out the Toyota website. Insane how much they charge for a small pickup.

Makes me scared to think how much they are going to charge for a 2025 4runner limited. Im thinking at least $60k. Plus my dealership conveniently only ever seems to get fully loaded trims plus their $1,500 worth of mandatory dealership add ons

Is it really smaller inside that a 4R? At least when I see Rangers on the road the cab looks decently sized.

Exactly why I posted this. The competition is offering more for less. I mean honestly, twin turbo V6 (that can be tuned) and has front and rear lockers, it's a no brainer. I think reliability for 99% of car buyers is more of an afterthought.

Exactly. Most of these are leases in my area as well. Shit, even base models such as Corollas, Civics, Elantras, etc are leases.

Actually I should take that back. Ive sat in Tacoma and Colorado before and seemed a little less hip and leg/knee room to splay out. The seats also felt lower and more like i was in a kayak. 4runner seats seam to sit higher and the way the center console is my knees can splay out without hitting it.

Does the Ford ranger greatly outsell the Tacoma now? Does the Ford expedition outsell the 4runner?

No but it will, remember the Ranger took a long hiatus from the USA and the Taco reigned king. Expedition??? Dude that's like comparing a dirt bike to a Harley... wayyy different vehicles. But, the F-150 greatly outsells the Tundra

The Tacoma was out-selling the Ranger before the hiatus, by a lot.

Almost like they discont it because it was a slow seller, or something.

I don't think the Ranger has a chance of outselling the Tacoma, but something like a higher proportion of Raptor vs total Rangers, vs the proportion of Pros to total Tacos.

I see a ton of F150 Raptors, they are honestly not a bad deal for what you get over the standard truck (at least they used to be).

On that note, another interesting thought: the Ranger Raptor sells for about as much as the first-gen F150 Raptor

Can you even compare the ranger raptor to the tacoma trd pro? Other then they both are mid sized trucks.

Ranger raptor has 400hp and a far better suspension setup. Just saying.

Wouldn’t the Explorer be Ford’s equivalent to a 4Runner? They sell more than twice as many by the way.

I thought the Ranger was a global truck? I think the Ranger Raptor was developed in Australia.

+1. The raw sales numbers don’t tell the story.. Toyota still has 10x the net earnings and 6x the market cap of Ford. I don’t think they are worried at all……..

Not worried yet. Those high MSRPs in the new generation vehicles and dealer "add ons" and markups should worry them. I was looking at a video where the Dodge Hornet is being marked down $16k in some dealers because they barely sell any.
