This is what I was quoted for 60k. Thoughts and advice please? Is changing fluids myself difficult? I haven’t worked on my vehicle for about 20 years.IMG_9674.jpg

I knew this was a quote from a stealership the moment I read "Check installation of driver side floor mat". Why the FUCK would someone pay to have that checked? It's either there or it isn't.

Don't pay this place a dime. You can probably get all that done, and more, for half. Well, maybe half? But don't let a dealership touch your ride.

Several of those things aren't needed at 60k. An example: transmission fluid exchange. Your Warranty and Maintenance Guide probably says to replace at 60k under severe conditions, and again at 120k under the same conditions. If it's like my 2019, it probably has nothing listed for transmission fluid replacement under normal conditions, ever. I believe the fluid is referred to as 'lifetime' under normal driving. That said, I did have mine replaced around 100k just for my brain's sake. It did seem to have to re-learn my driving tendencies afterward.

Okay, so why are they trying to charge her for it? Recalls are free.

The answer: Because they're scumbags who try to over charge customers any chance they get.

The floor mat check isn’t a rip off, it’s just a thing Toyota has done since the unintended acceleration fiasco. If you get it itemized it’ll probably be zero.

But I consider this whole thing insane in price.

Power Steering fluid lasts a while, if you really want you can turkey baste it.

I would go to an independent shop if you don’t want to DIY, but if you look up the procedures for:

    Engine oil/filter
    Transmission drain/fill
Rear differential (transfer case, front diff if 4WD)
    Driveshaft greasing
    Brake Fluid

I don’t know the coolant procedure myself. Wiper blades are as-necessary.

and see how you feel. They’re about the same in difficulty but varying levels of tedium and you can price out your inclination versus the cost from other shops.

All the important bits I would expect to be under half that.

If you have a Costco membership, they have a 15% discount at participating locations for parts/service.

Can’t tell whether they’re charging for that item, but I bet not. They check that mat every time. They have to. So it’s listed.

Seems like the estimate is from some type of menu with what looks like financing terms at the bottom.

You shouldn't need a wheel alignment just because you hit 60,000 miles.

Yowzer! Stay away from those guys.Find a local shop and ask them for an estimate. I recently did all that stuff in my driveway for the cost of fluids (to include beer),a bruised knuckle or two and saved way more.BTW,I'm 77 but feel great great saving those bucks.

That not the worst. “Fuel air induction service” and “maximum engine performance “service are just plain made up. They might has well have offered to charge the flux capacitor.

    RUN, don’t walk.

The Car Care Nut's guidance on that is a bit complicated. I think the short version is that if you're going to completely replace the transmission fluid, do it at 60k. If you go much beyond that, replacing it all is inadvisable.

To the OP, that seems like way too much to me. I plan on DIY for those, even though I haven't done some of those procedures on a modern vehicle.

They get away with that crap when the unknowing/naive vehicle owners falls for it and pays them, which happens more often than not, your average vehicle owner knows nothing about what makes a vehicle work and how to maintain them properly and trust the dealer to tell them what needs to be done !!

Holy Cr@p- that should be reported to the BBB. This Sh!t needs to stop. Dealerships are a monopoly and are mafias- the gov’t needs to kill them to make it a fair market. Sucks that this will never happen and appreciate that these boards exist. I rather see more carvana’s and free market dealer models hopefully could grow to exist. As realist, I know dealers have the land, the money and the hands in gov’t pockets. Unfortunately the avg car buyer follows the rules.

    Amsoil ATF-5qts
Amsoil Gear oils for Front, Rear Diffs and Xfer case
    WIX Transmission Filter
    FLUID Transfer pump
And all the needed crush washers
box of lint free shop towels

Agree 100%. They’re taking advantage of people’s fears, and limited resources (time/money).

Pretty standard for the mileage (30K, 60K, 90K...) services. There's a lot of inspections of things and not much work.
