I am wanting to get a C4 LoPro number and add a winch and 30" light bar, I know from reading the forums that this will add a considerable amount of weight, causing the front end to sag and handle poorly. My question is what modifications should I make to the front end to compensate for the added weight? I know nothing about suspensions / lifts. I'm in a conundrum because eventually I do want to add sliders and plates, but for now I want to add the bumper, and I'm not sure if I just go ahead and get the full suspension / shocks / springs set up to support the set up I want to have eventually and just suffer through the rough ride until all the wight is added, or if I can just set the front up for now and just have to modify the rest of the truck once I get the sliders and plates.

Many aftermarket struts will be adjustable. Buy what you want and add an inch height for front end weight, or micro-adjust as necessary.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

If you're referring to this bumper: https://c4fabrication.com/products/...nc-p0XeGi4jlk1Nm29mVyLtSTVpwJCt8aAq5gEALw_wcB

It's only 75lbs. That is NOTHING. Even if you add a winch on, that's another 20 - 30lbs. When you add that up, then deduct the weight that you cut OFF just to add the new bumper, you've only gained maybe 50lbs.

You don't need to modify anything. I had a Body Armor bumper on my 21' Tacoma (Very similar to the one you're gonna get), and didn't modify anything after I put it on. The truck was not sluggish and the ride was not rough at all.

I just added c4 low pro, warn evo winch and S8 lightbar. My coilovers have 700 lb springs and handle extra weight perfect. For my setup it was not too stiff before I added the bumper.

The shipping weight of a Warn Zeon 8S is 79 lbs. That means it probably weighs close to 75 lbs.

The Warn Zeon 8 (non-synthetic) shipping weight is 99 lbs., so you're probably looking at 95 lbs.

I bought the stock Kings with 550 lbs. springs. Then added a evo winch and C4 bumper with light bar. I had to switch the springs to 650 lbs. to get the 3 inch lift.

I think the winch is going to be more like 70-90lbs depending on the one I get though.

Forgive my ignorance; are coilovers a part of a whole suspension mod / lift kit or did you buy just those by themselves?

Looks sick! Stock kings was the lift kit and then you added the beefed up springs to give you the lift you wanted? Hope I’m understanding that correctly. Thanks for sharing!

yes exactly, I’m thinking that with the bumper and winch it’ll be like 170lbs give or take, minus the little bit I’m negating by removing the stick plastic bumper.

Thanks, very happy with the Kings. Yea, I screwed up because I knew I was going to add the bumper, winch, and light bar. They are adjustable but only so far. When I bought the shocks from off road warehouse I didn't mention it and they didn't ask what extra weight I had or was going to add. So I had to pay an extra $300 if I remember right to replace the springs and realign. Tell the shop your buying them from what extra weight you have and the lift you want and they be able to order them with the correct spring. That goes with any strut manufacturer.

Please let the worldwide off road community know where we get these magical, flyweight winches!:rofl::rofl:

OP, just swap out your front springs for something in the 600-700lb range. Depends on the overall weight of your setup now, as well as in the future (like skids). Less weight, 600-650. More weight, 700. If it's offset game.

Theoretically, if I just want to do the front now to support the bumper could I do that, and just upgrade the rest once I add the sliders and plates? Thanks for the reply!

650 is a safe bet for what you want to do. You don't want to undershoot and then be undersprung for the added weight that could come. I run 650 with my Kings, low pro bumper, 12k winch w/ synthetic line, rock sliders and full skids. It also depends on your shocks and valving, but you're only going to be able to tune that with ones on the higher-end $-wise.

I recommend you ask Accutune or Filthy Motorsports. They have the experience and know how to get you and your goals aligned with a suspension system.

TBH, they are not the cheapest, but they are the best.

That's who I worked with a bit (Accutune, as they're local to me) and where I bought my heavier springs. They have some algorithms they can plug in gross vehicle weight and shocks, plus accessory weight (by brand) being added and give you a rough idea of spring poundage needed.

Cheapest way is upgrade spring only.
You get no adjustability this way but it solves the issue.

A step above that would be Bilstein 5100s and 600-650lb spring. You get some height adjustability this way.

If your budget can swing it I’d go with Dobinson IMS coilovers. You can fine tune lift height. Plus Dobinsons has a ton of coil options. Here’s a link to some Dobinsons options. https://exitoffroad.com/product/dobinsons-1-to-3-5-build-a-kit-toyota-4runner-5th-gen/

What kind of winches are you looking at? I have a 10K Warn with a synthetic rope and it's 72#.

Now you're adding almost 150#, minus the crash bar, so probably at least 130# at the very front of the vehicle. Sure, it will be fine. But, it's definitely going to sag.

You could go with something like a Bilstein 5100, 6112, or a number of other options with heavier coils for the weight.

I went with 6112's, with medium load springs and have been very pleased with them.

With something adjustable, you could keep the height stock until you are ready to do the rears.
