Go and read post #10 again so you can understand what headlights came factory on your truck, and then which ones you are upgrading to and their features.

If you want LED low-beam only and want to save money, get the "no shutter wire" option. If you want LED high-beams as well, you'll need the quad high beam harness.

Post 10 was super helpful for me, re-read it dozens of times. Maybe link to it from the first post at the top?

I don't feel any different than normal so far. I think the other driver got a little banged up. Her air bags popped.

Setting up my test headlight (finally) and hoping someone can give me a photo or pinout on the turn and sidemarker connectors.

I may have the turn (triangle) one from @mynameistory somewhere since I did something for him a long time ago.

So I will admit, I read thru the first couple pages and am still confused. But I am just a old Army grunt, so can someone break it down for me Big Bird style?

I currently have a 24 TRD Pro with the High and Low LED projectors. Will the Plug n Play Quad beam harness turn my DRLs back to the High beam function and thus usable again for extra light output?

Background.....coming from a 21 Venture that had the LED projector low beams and still had the 9005 halogen High beams. In that model......TBH the factory highs were worthless. There seemed to be more light output from the LED lows and fogs. So I upgraded to a DDM Sabre ProX 65watt LED package. This made offroad driving and super rural driving great at night and able to see critters...especially deer and avoid them. I don't know what everyone else does, but my 4R is not a daily driver and is almost exclusively used for off road trips. I dont use the brights around other cars or town as the LED lows and LED fogs are plenty. But I do like to see when there is no other lights except what is coming from the truck.

I am ready to order the harness now if it fits the need.

    Thanks

    No.

To get 9005 / 9011 high beam behavior on a 2022+ you effectively need a “downgrade” harness. But then to go from there to quad high beams is a separate leap. It might be possible to chain the two harnesses together but that seems awkward to me. And I don’t expect the morimoto downgrade harness does any PWM for DRL.

If you want to abandon the 9005 DRL you just need a shutter trigger and battery feed w relay to supply juice to 9005/9011 for use as high beams.

If you want the bulbs to work as they do for older T4R doing both PWM DRL and high beam, that’s not an easy one to do.

You might consider some DD SS3 or SS5’s in driving or spot pattern for aux high beam and leave headlights as is.

Hello, I've read through the post multiple times but embarrassingly, I am still a bit confused. I am picking up a 2019 Limited later today. It has the H11 projector low and 9005 DRL/Hi Beam.

My plan is to buy a set of the 21+ Bi-Led headlights, that have hi/low LED projector and the DRL only section. I may have a found a set off a 21 and will confirm the # of pins on the back if I actually get them. Which harness would I order?

Also, If I do get the led headlights, I'd like to install the Diode Dynamic HP48 - 9005 LED bulb for the DRL. I know this can be done on the 21+ that come with the these headlights. I already have these bulbs and the harness needed to get them to work as DRL only where you connect to passenger side and tap to the ground. Will I be able to do this with my 2019 4Runner since I am essentially modifying with newer LED headlights?

    Thank you,

If 3 pin headlights, best is to order quad high beams (see below though). If 2 pin, order no shutter.

Don't use LED bulbs for the DRL if doing quad high beams, that's a poor plan vs 9011 HIR. If you're set on LED 9005's then order the LED low beam only but the output from that led projector with the shutter open truly sucks (I was amazed at how lousy it is after testing on the bench with a headlight donated to me). The 9011 HIR will be dandy as a DRL (though it'll burn down so replace annually) and wonderful for high beam. I like Toshiba HIR's (hard to find) but the Sylvania Korean 9011's test out slightly higher (also somewhat hard to find).

You do not need a 2022+ DRL harness, that's only for series wired DRL through 9005 trucks, do not use this on a 2021 or older, it'll blow fuses and just plain not work.

Ok. I just picked up my 2019 Limited this evening.

I appreciate the response. I will wait until I have the LED headlights in my possession to ask a couple more questions. As of this evening The seller hasn’t responded to my questions, so I may be on hold.

To anyone who purchased a set of the bi-led low/hi headlights "new", where did you find the best pricing? As of now, I am seeing these sold for about $750 each, not including shipping.

I am still searching FB and the forums before I pull the trigger on new ones, although it may be a while before any come up.

    thanks,

    How’s it going.

I found a set of LED Headlights for sale that the seller says they came off a 2024 4Runner ORP.

Does anyone know if these are bi-led (lo and hi LED)? Ad states I would need to transfer connectors from my headlights, not sure which connectors. Will these fit my 2019 Limited?

if they are bi-led which harness would I need for the lo and hi led to work and DRL?

These are photos of the headlights.

    See post 211 above.

The part number on the headlights should confirm.

thanks, I passed on the this initial purchase from the forum member, and found a set on Ebay where the part numbers were verified to be the newer bi-leds.

    Daveeasa,
I am reviving this response from you to me. I purchased a set of the bi-led headlights taken off a 2023 TRD Off Road Premium. I should receive them end of week or next week. I am expecting this set to to be the 3 pin.

As for the harness, I am confused by your response to me from a few weeks ago. I'd like to keep this as simple of a PNP as possible. I am good with with just the LED low and hi beam only and simple DRL (9005). Want to confirm I would order the option on the FBC site, (Plug and Play LED high Beam only)?

    Thank You,

Curious how much you paid for the headlights off ebay. Im in the market and curious what the going rate is for these.

The lights alone were $625, but the shipping and tax brought total to $863. Still not too bad compared to buying new.

The way your current truck (2019) operates, the DRL and the high-beam function both come from the same bulb (9005 in the reflector). The headlight changes but the wiring from your truck does not.

So if you order the low-beam-only harness (no shutter option), you will have LED lowbeams, halogen highbeams (9005), and halogen DRL (the same 9005).

If you order the quad high-beam harness, everything will be exactly the same - except! - you will now be able to activate the internal projector shutters when you toggle high-beam. These are a physical shutter that eliminates the cutoff of the low-beam optic, effectively giving you LED high-beams in addition to your halogen ones - hence, quad high-beams.

Thanks, I will order the Quad adapter.

Just for reference what was throwing me off is the info in the FBC site where is in the drop down menu, it gives the option to order the (Plug and Play LED Hi Beam Only).

Then, there's this note as well (Match 2022 behavior where low and high beam is handled by the LED projector and the 9005 bulb is only used for DRL), which is what I was looking to do.

That’s the third choice - which is what I bought - LED low and high beams work, halogen is for DRL only. “Plug and Play High Beam Only.”

Thanks. I already placed my order for the Quad, UGH. I would have preferred just the lo & hi LED only and DRL with the halogen as drl only.

did you already install the your adapter for LED low & hi only and halogen DRL only for the new headlights? I am going to check if I can change my order. I understand the benefit of quad hi beams, but I really do not need them.

It's all personal choice, but in my non-instrumented opinion the LED high-beams are lackluster. If you're paying the same price for quad high-beams I think you're coming out way ahead.
