Not sure what has been done but this evening the other 4Runner forum is back up to speed...but still not fast but about the way it was before this latest slow down.

Hopefully it stays that way or get even faster would be nice!

The Administrator of the other the forum just posted at 5:49 pm est., the following about what's happening on fixing the forum....

"Please stay tuned. We upgraded the server, but still having intermittent issues. Working on it."

    Hopefully they get it resolved.
I’m still happy I joined this forum after all these years after being on the other one until a week ago. Now I can get information from both.

I noticed a big difference in the last few hours.

That being said I do have a Ad Blocker so I don't have to deal wit the popups as slowing me down.

As I predicted, its completely dead now. The admin clearly didn't give a crap. The forum has been dying for months and he posted one message. All the moderators deserted it years ago, as near as I can tell.

On the slim chance it comes back up again, I hope one of you techie types will copy it with something like https://www.httrack.com/
This is a great software (there may be others) that I have used before but I don't understand some of the options that a more techie person would.

It would be a shame to lose it completely, if we haven't already. And I don't trust anything that admin says about trying to fix it. He just wants to keep collecting income from ads. He only logs in about once a week.

Its been down for about 24 hours now. It did that once before and did come back up, but with it's outdated software and such poor maintenance and almost zero staff involvement its obvious the site is ripe for hackers and sudden death.

It's like that for me too. Site unreachable.

This time it's super annoying because I actually need that forum right now. Whoever is doing maintenance on it (if that's why again) needs to learn how to make banners on the site warning of site maintenance days leading up to it. I've heard they have a twitter but I'm not signing up for twitter.

They should start delegating responsibilities to trusted community members if they're unable to maintain it.

I think a big question right now is, does it matter to that person (those people)? Maybe they're just done messing with a forum. There certainly doesn't seem to have been much engagement by those in charge for a few years now.

Last time they said it was for maintenance so I'm hoping that means that they aren't done with the forum. If it's gone then that is a really shitty way to go. No warning, no chance to say good by or back up data, just an unreachable screen.

Right. As I said, the moderators have already been gone for months or years. The admin has posted a grand total of 2 messages since November. Why not just say yah, I don't care so you better find another place?

They clearly don't give a damn. And I am in the middle of my first ever clutch job, and was relying on that site for help!

That's why we need people ready to copy the site if by some chance it comes back up. It may only come back up for a day or two, and poof! I would have copied it myself but I'm too low on storage space!

I said that last time, but I'll totally chip into a fund if someone wants to back it up and make it available elsewhere

Well a copy won't be a functional website, it will just be a copy. All the info will be saved but it won't be a functional forum. I don't know how you could make a true backup without access to the server, but I am not a technie.

The priority would be saving the information, what to do with it would be discussed afterwards. If it even comes back up, the window for that could already have closed for all we know.

It's acting up again, had trouble yesterday and again today. To be expected I guess, when the owner only cares about ads and is impossible to contact and never communicates his plans for the site or accepts any offers of help

Its as long as its ever been down. I think it was down 3 days, or most of 3 days, a couple months ago. Admin showed up acting like everything is peachy, just a little flesh wound...and then disappears again...and here we are.
