Just installed a 3-2 leveling kit and upgraded my tires to 275/60/20. My X-treas system now has my ride bouncing like a bouncy house...New shocks?? or new coils or both??

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I have a question too. Why did you install a leveling kit? The rake is there for a reason.

What kind of lift did you get?

Ya but it doesn’t look as cool lol. Raising the front one inch usually doesn’t put you totally flat anyway. Bigger question is if the “leveling kit” (it’s actually a substantial lift) was accomplished by spacers, or with new shocks and coils.

If it’s shocks and coils, then the OP doesn’t need to worry xreas anymore.

Can you just throw spacers on the Xreas for that kind of lift without ripping it out?

I didn’t think so, but I’m not sure if maybe they sell xreas specific spacers.

The OP’s post says the “xreas system is bouncy.” The only way that she has xreas system anymore is if spacers were used, otherwise, it’s long gone.

I installed spacers..had a 2-1 leving kit and had no problems..just went to a 3-2 spacers and that's when it started..I am removing the 3-2 spacers and going back to the 2/1..

You can definitely put a spacer on top of the strut mounts without opening the system.

If it’s really bouncy I’m wondering if someone messed up and did open the system to install spacer - that would make the dampeners useless while their entire purpose it dampen and control spring oscillations.

I replaced my coils, struts and got the nice firm but controlled rebound and the suspension feels like it's working together now. Definitely rides and drives better. Handles great. I tried factory springs first but to much bounce

They mount the same. I like my 5100s better. Much

Sounds like the best bet. At a certain lift height the ride characteristics can start to get harsher simply due to geometry, or maybe even harshness from reaching full extension on normal bumps. Hopefully, that’s the only issue.

I set my struts at highest level front with OME 2883s and 2" lift springs in rear. I don't have a lot of extension. I didn't want to harsh or heavy of spring. I like controlled rebounds and chaos rather than jarring fillings loose.

Hoping this corrects it for you. If it does, I'd be curious to hear more about the kit/spacers you installed for your X-REAS system. This was actually the solution that several other Limited owners here have recommended...at least until X-REAS begins to leak, but I also understand some kits add the spacer above the shock, and others below. Anyway, fingers crossed this does it for you.

    Oh...and welcome to the board

By adding the spacers you removed some of the travel in the spring or shock which stiffened your suspension.

I used OME 2883s springs up to 3" lift specs it said. My Xreas leaked a long time and still worked, it just got clunky in cold weather and doesn't ride well. I think it finally got low on hydraulic oil. I initially set 5100s at 2nd height setting which says 0.5" and achieved about 2" lift with the 5100s. Then I tried the lowest setting about 1". I then went to top setting which is supposed to be 2" raise on the strut. I received 4+" then measuring at fender opening. I didn't like rear Xreas spring response or ride and used 2" lift springs in rear. I'm around 4" lift all around now. The springs feel like they are working together as one on bumps, bounces and rebound. Drives like a 4wd more to me. I really didn't know what I was going to like or end up with using bits and pieces. 3rd setting is supposed to be 1" lift on
5100s. Even though I got really good dropping and resetting struts, I got tired and I liked the way it rides and drives. It drives as good as Xreas but I know it will flip now. Calms me driving. I read and researched to learn what I could. Experience is the best lesson and I was able to learn something about it. I did not use any spacers. Energy isolators in rear springs 0.5". Probably need to add to rear height total. Starting to settle and respond better. 1st picture is 2nd setting. 2nd picture top strut setting. That's my experience whether right or wrong.

I replaced UCAs with Freedom ORs. I like polyurethane durability but I read a lot about the squeaky and I have never worn or beat out any bushings. I will eventually replace the LCAs and have all greasable ball joints and tie rods.

What is the reason for the rake? Thank you

When you load up the back with heave stuff or hook up a trailer, the back end will sag down. The rake is so the headlights (and the driver) aren't pointed up in the air when that happens. If you go completely level and then load it down you will blind other drivers

So it's level when you have 7 people and a load. Mostly Limited 3rd row have the rake from what I have noticed. I don't haul any people, just some gear.
