So, more of an fyi. Ive had a bit of a rough-ish idle since I got my t4r @ 50k miles. No big deal, kinda figured it was on par with the rest of the truck, being unrefined and so on. Once I cleaned the MAF senson and throttle body, WHAT A DIFFERENCE. It idles so much smoother now! To the point I felt compelled to share it with you good folks. Best $20 I ever spent on a can of mass air flow sensor cleaner and throttle body cleaner. Utilized a video from the car care nut so I wouldn't screw it up.

Guess its coming from the intake, dirt that gets past the air filter. I change mine pretty religiously. Maf didnt look dirty, however the throttle body was gross

How often does one need to clean the throttle bodies?
Or is it more of an inspect and if dirty clean it kinda thing.

Unless someone is running an oiled-element air filter, it will be due to the oil, vapors, moisture, etc due to PCV that occurs on the other side of the MAF. Take a look at how mucked up the throttle body is. Your MAF wire won't look like that to your eye, but it is a super, super sensitve fine wire. Cleaning it can do a lot, especially with idle quality.
I worked on my sister's car once that she was told needed a new high-dollar MAF. I sprayed it down and - bam - ran as good as new! In fact, if someone ever tells me they get a MAF code, I always try visually inspecting and cleaning the MAF wire first.

I ended up cleaning my MAF sensor today. I've been experiencing a fluctuating idle when stopped at a light where it would bounce from 500rpm to 750rpm and then back down to 500rpm. Cleaning the MAF seems to have have resolved the issue.

Thats awesome. Gotta love when a cheap and easy fix actually works.

Did it. Took 5 mins. Did it make a difference?
I wouldn't know. Some carbon deposit did come out.
My idle rpm was already okay but it did have a slight roughness to it.

Though I do all the work myself I am fortunate to have the car care nut 4 minutes from my house. Haven’t used him but should the need arise, I’m taking it there

Borla exhaust, Jet MAF sensor, K&N filter, Hayden rapid cool transmission cooler, Hella horns, electric fan, Pedal Commander, Derale power steering cooler,
I'm running Jet MAF. I started getting P0430 and occasionally MAF code. I swapped MAF with factory, cleaned it, Seafoamed throttle body and engine intake, replaced gas cap. Has anyone actually had to replace a cat? It's hard for me to believe it's bad. Never replaced one before. I have K&N but I never a problem with them. I only oil front and I let it drain off overnight. It started by driving with gaslight on and after getting gas it started throwing codes. About 50 times first 2 days. I thought about replacing down stream CO2 sensor. Now it throws without rhyme or reason.

Used to be every 15-30k. Seafoam works great. Use as directed. I take the boot off, use rag over old toothbrush, spray with cleaner. It really cleans the carbon on 4.0.
