I noticed on Friday my left brake light was out. I put a new bulb in and it still wasn't working. Tried a second new bulb and no go. Then I swapped the whole bulb and holder to the right side and it was working fine. The bulb and holder from the right side stopped working when installed in the left side.

Taillights work fine. Just not the brake light on the left side.

Any thoughts? What should I check? The fuse is good, obviously.

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
Those "buckets" pickup their ground from a point right behind them. They rend to develop corrosion rather badly. Might want to pull the whole left "bucket" out, and check it's ground point. Check the ground for corrosion, dirt build up, loose bolt, whatever.

Do the taillight and the brake light not share a ground?

They share the same ground point but may be individual cables. Have you tested the voltage from the connector or wire? I would check there first, both the positive and ground.
