This would be my 1st 4runner, and I know the 6th gen was released and going to be in production. I currently drive a 2019 Nissan Frontier 4x4 that's paid off. I could trade it in, and use as down payment, or I could keep the truck, and just put some money down and finance the rest. I want the 4.0 w 5 speed. It's the last year :( I'm stuck on it. Everything is going to direct injection, and transmissions are getting more gears, which I'm really not liking.

    Anyways,
    In my area, south florida, there are a couple dealers that have a few 4runners. Couple questions;

    1. When do you think they'll stop bringing in the 5th gen 4runner to the dealers
    2. If I were to buy used (30k miles or under) what should I look for if anything?

a new SR5 w 4wd one dealer said it would be 47k OTD. I have yet to call another dealer and price shop. I'm assuming they're all going to be close in numbers.

    thanks in advanced, taylor

    Welcome.

Production will stop when the last allocation rolls off of the assembly line.

With multiple dealers selling at invoice, buy new.

Go straight for a new one, used aren't cheap. Get on Cargurus and look for 2024 4Runners with 200 miles of your zip code. Good luck!
Pass the stupid 6th gen. If you have deep pockets, maybe you should get the new GX, it is an amazing truck.

If you want the most simple, honest to God trim of the 4Runner, that has the most potential to be modified later, get the basic SR5 4WD. Get on Cargurus and locate one, you could get it for as low as $39,000

Call them and tell them you have $37,000 only and ask them to ship it to Florida for $38,500. If you want to save money you need to think beyond your home state.

Thanks for the replies. I will start this process this next week and hopefully within 2-3 weeks have a new 4Runner in the driveway.

so yes I want the base sr5 with 4wd. You thank I can a new one for around 40k? I just did a text through the dealer it was a quick back and forth and she said 46k but could work out numbers more if I came in.

this is something I will work on. Thank you all.

46k  I paid a little over that for my Offroad Premium, KDSS, rock sliders and blacked out emblems. Block that dealer's number. Call these guys in WA. You must not pay more than $39k for SR5

Book your flight to WA, get this SR5 for $37-$38k, put a mattress in the back and drive it to Florida.

$39k-40k before taxes and licensing is very realistic for a base SR5 4WD. You will more than likely have to fly out and drive one back. There are quite a few dealers selling at this invoice price point.

ok well this is good to know. Once I go into the dealer and talk with salesman, my main focus will only be on the OTD price. I’m going to tell him man, just around the corner you got this new 4Runner coming, it’s updated, got all the tech nice screen etc, and I’m getting the “old” 4Runner. Can’t you cut me a deal for 39k OTD and I’ll sign today!

something along those lines lol. I live in naples Florida, so maybe that’s why the market down here may be priced a little higher? It’s all old retired folks, and everyone in Naples thinks everyone else is a millionaire. I’m 34 and work in construction lol bringing in 75k a year after taxes.

$39k OTD will probably get your salesman to walk on you. After you factor in 6% in taxes, doc fee, and licensing, you’ll be closer to $41,500-$42,000 OTD. Offer $40,500 and stick don’t go past your high target goal.

$39,000 max price for the SR5, EXCLUDING taxes and stuff.
Use the "Old" 4Runner excuse to lower the price.

Get the truck ASAP before they use the "Old" 4Runner argument to charge you a premium lol, as the 6th gen stinks.

Exactly, I don’t like to do it, but I did it with the 19 frontier before they changed it and now that frontier to me is crap. And when I go into Toyota I’m going to try and find a salesperson I can “try” to guilt one over on. Ill act so obvious and nieve and say wow I could wait and get this new 4runnwr with way better gas mileage, that actually looks 2024 inside, blah blah. And she’ll or he’ll be like yeah, I see your point (lol no) and I’ll get a good deal! One can dream lol.

I’m willing to do 42k max before taxes and fees

my comeback to that salesperson would be, “so the new 4Runner is not reliable and better? Wow. But yea there are 2 edges to this sword, unfortunately. 3 dealers in my area have like 3-4 on the lot, and usually they have more like 7-10. Might get a batch soon & of course I’ll try at the end of the month.

Yeah tell them the new 6th has a laptop size infotainment screen and more power and stuff. Don't mention that you like old trucks, just say you want a cheap 4Runner and are willing to sacrifice.

I never go into a dealership to purchase a vehicle, only to get an oil filter. Negotiate everything by phone. Look at their inventory online, write down the stock number or vin number of the one you want. Call and ask for the fleet sales manager, tell him/her the stock number and politely ask for a 5% discount off of MSRP, if he laughs, hang up on him. Call next dealership by increasing distance from your house to them. Call adjacent states, if need be. When someone bites, get a doc-u-sign purchase agreement emailed to you. Look it over very carefully, if it looks shady, call and confront him directly and bluntly, don’t be afraid to say something like “am I dealing with a liar” or “is the better business bureau aware of these tactics”? Once I told a salesman “fuck you and fuck your dealership” and hung up. He called me back a couple minutes later and apologized and said “maybe we can work this out”. These people have very thick skin, don’t be afraid to use your big boy words. Secure financing now, before calling, don’t ever tell them how you plan on paying for it or if there’s a trade in, just say “I’m not sure yet”. Penn Fed has some good rates right now, Credit Unions, if your a Veteran, Navy Federal Credit Union or the bank you use. Now, if you get the price you feel comfortable with, put a deposit of $500.00 down using a debit or credit to hold it, especially if it’s in transit and won’t arrive for a few weeks. I just purchased mine a month ago and got 5% off MSRP, I didn’t even really push that hard. I think the new car market has softened dramatically in the past year. This is your hard earned money, don’t just walk in and be a “lay down”, play the game and grind the shit out of them!

I suppose, this just displays the dealership dropping their drawers a shade over 5% out of the gate, confirming softening market conditions.

If it's paid for and still running, keep it. You won't be getting anything for it and they will make more selling it used. That's just me. I hate perpetual car payments

Here in Canada, I could get a 2020 TRD Pro for 25k$ less than a 2024. Is there a big difference in features ? Because I'm thinking of getting this while I wait for used 6th gen to come out in the future. I'd like to have something for this summer, instead of what I currently drive.
