payson, pinetop, greer are all great places as well. Phoenix is a bit boring but as soon as you go North the topography and environment gets interesting

well at least to get to the trails, mainly if you're in a different state. Also I do like seeing where I am in relation to the trail and I can mark spots that I like when I want to come back

I agree. White mountains are amazing. I drive to Phoenix to visit daughter for our weekly chess matches, but then love the drive back up the hill where I live. Phoenix is a happy zoo...

I’ve owned a couple turbo vehicles in the past and did just what you said, traded them in before high mileage. Now I’m more interested in keeping vehicles long term and giving them to my kids to drive once they get their license. I will probably try to buy one of the last of the 2024 4Runners and keep it for a long time. Hopefully the prices don’t get crazy.

Did you ask them what size tires could fit without rubbing? :D

According to TechForce, around 800,000 new technicians will be required in the next 5 years to meet the demand for the auto industry. One more yet obscured reason to avoid turbos and hybrids and stick to the old Fred Flintstone simplicity of the 5th gen.The kid at Toyota can't even wash my 4runner without scratching the clear coat. Imagine the mechanics just a few steps up from this skill level trying to fix the million failures in components of turbos and hybrids. Barney and Fred agree with me...I rest my case and my rant for the day...

This was a consideration when buying our last SUV, and the 4Runner felt dated for the money. I'm not a Toyota fan boi and blindly purchase. Maybe this 6th Gen will earn our business.

You're speaking a foreign language to most people here. My first restoration was a 38 Chevy, babbitt bearings, hand crank and bourdon tube, I replaced them all but the bourdon tube. My second restoration, a 32 Ford flathead, but that project died when I had more vision than money, back in the 70's.
Had to do a valve job on a buddy's Olds 98 455, have you ever had to lift large block heads off and over that massive engine bay and fender?

Now back to the whining for the new model haters.

Not sure i understand the question. But on board = yes, it's native and built in. Offline = no, can't use with out subscription.

FYI refresh rate sucks ass of these units.

Complaining about this truck's fuel economy is so original and so genius.

    Lol.

All I said is that you'll get shittier fuel economy with the supercharger. That's not a complaint.

Well, shittier is the positive comparative of shitty. Which implies that this truck's gas mileage starts as shitty. I assumed you complained when you said shitty. Were you trying to praise this truck by saying shitty, in that case, I like that compliment

Just stating a fact. They get shitty mileage. I can live in the real world and not be mad about it.

I get shitty mileage but I think it has less to do with the vehicle and more to do with my right foot :)

I might have to take another look at the Bronco now. Initially when they came out during Covid my local Ford dealership was wanting $10k to $20k “Market Adjustment Fee” for them. The ride was ok, a little more interior cabin road noise than 4Runner but better than Jeep. I just worry about reliability and resale value of it.

That's always a factor. "Spirited" driving always leads to lower MPG, but can result in higher smiles per gallon. ;)

    I beat on it, sometimes.

A few years ago, I tagged along on a road trip with some old friends who are car guys. We had a Mustang, Charger, Challenger (Hellcat ), LS swapped Sonoma, LS swapped Firebird, and a built CRX, and my slow-ass bringing up the rear. One tank I netted 9.2 MPG. :bananadead:

    But, it was fun!

Definitely! I don't go on a lot of trips with those guys, due to different tastes. I prefer camping and bonfires, they like hotels and bars. But, they're great friends!

Can't get good gas mileage on vehicles like this, its just physics. I'm looking forward to a modified 6th gen here, lets see what that little funny 2.4 does when it is heavily modified. They get more power yes, better gas mileage, I'm not too sure. It's like the new GX that gets a whopping one extra mile per gallon compared to the old one.
