I just bought a 2010 4runner, it has Bilstein struts with upper control arms in the front, and Bilstein shocks in the rear along with offset spacers, drivers' side is a 1/4 " thicker. The struts are adjustable and when I reset them at the highest setting, I noticed the right spring was thicker and had an extra coil compared to the left. I'm 38" on both rear wheel wells, 37" right front, 36" left front. I'm starting to think in theory that the stiffer, heavier coil should be on the driver's side. Does anyone have any info on this???
I'm new to the Toyota family and I can find all sorts of stuff that refers to the Toyota drivers side lean, and the stiffer coil goes on the right, but that's not making sense.

You should post up some pictures of the setup. Someone will come along and might be able to identify it. I have no experience with Bilstein springs but OME has stickers attached to the coil. Stock coil has paint marks on them to identify which side there supposed to be on.

Extra coil makes the spring softer. Your springs are installed on the correct side. Mine are the same, 7 coils on the driver's side, 8 coils on the passenger side. Also see: You can run the passenger side Bilstein one groove lower to compensate for the lean.

It makes sense now. Thanks for the input and link. I took it off road today, got back home and it's not so bad now that it has settled. There is a 1/4" difference from left to right, both front and rear. i can live with that.
