Ok. Apparently these fancy 4Runners are more complicated than they need to be. I am relieved to find mine doesn't have the KDDS system, it has the X-REAS shocks but it's strictly mechanical and can go in the dumpster when replaced with conventional stuff. Therefore, this Rough Country 2" lift will bolt right up, just like my Tacoma. Correct? Anyone else go this route? This is strictly for aesthetics. BUT, this says 4wd, technically it's "all wheel drive" am I missing something here? Thanks allIMG_1534.png IMG_1533.jpg

    Hey OP
    It's KDSS (probably a typo)
And iunno if I'd be relieved to have XREAS instead, but you're not wrong

I can't speak for RC lift, I believe they are in the moderately affordable category.
But technically your truck is full time 4wd.

    I say do it
@kmeeg do you have a limited

OP has a limited so he has XREAS

I wouldn't go with RC but you can replace and dump the XREAS.

Yes I have Limited. But I don't know why this kit says no xreas, no kdss, no pro.
XREAS will require to remove the additional lines that run along the frame and center cylinders. When I have a shop installed Bilstien 5100 they changed extra 1 hour to remove XREAS.
IMO its best to go with brands majority of us use and those companies have kits that fit kdss equipped, xreas equipped and other models.

The 4wd and awd is essentially the same so it'll work. But RC is bunk. Bilstein 5100s and your choice of rear spring is better

    Ya 5100s are affordable too.

I got em on front and rear, with front and rear lift springs. That's ideal.
The Rough Country Kit looks to include all that too.
If OP likes his Rough Country then go fer it
But XREAS isn't just shocks to remove

The only thing you're missing is quality in that Rough Country kit. Go with the Eibach if want something that will ride nice without being overkill or breaking the bank.

Also you do not have to remove the XREAS lines and accumulators from the frame rails.

Rough Country is a no go. I yanked my entire XREAS system and replaced with OME.

I was thinking about that. Rough Country is a cheap lift, Rancho bloodline. It's a heavy rig. Buy once, cry once. I'm going Old Man if I can get the coilovers preassembled or another but I'm not messing with control arms, etc.

I bet Old Man Emu BP51 would be a fantastic upgrade to the Limited. How ever I doubt it is recommended to install with stock UCAs.

I have Ironman FCP stage 1 now on my Limited with stock UCAs. They are pretty decent for the price when they go on sale. But recently there was a post and people say that its Chinese made and may not be as reliable. Mine is too new to say anything about reliability.

If its "Buy once, cry once" type of thing when I ask the 4x4shop what is the most comfortable suspension regardless the price tag, they recommend me ELKA 2.5DC. Surely they are very comfy on rough roads /trails. But it needed aftermarket UCA and rear brake line extensions.

I believe other highend suspension like Fox 2.5DC / Kind 2.5A / Dobinson MRR, etc are pretty much same but needed aftermarket UCAs. I'm no expert but I think its best to go with a common brand.

I think it is also best to ask about servicing these high-end suspension. They require service 30K-50K miles depending on the use. If not serviced they will also leak and be the same position as XREAS but atleast they are serviceable vs XREAS replaceable. Again I'm no expert, just sharing what I did to my 5th gen 4runners.

2023 ORP, so not Xreas, but I went with Bilstein B12 with 5160’s in the rear at 1.5” and Bilstein B8s with 6112’s in the front at 2.7”. As it was above the recommended height of 2” I went with aftermarket SPC uca’s and this setup has been great so far. I didn’t have to run extended brake lines if that helps.

I don’t think running BP51 will require replacing the UCAs. Why would it? Are the coils huge or something? Keep the lift reasonable and keep the stock UCAs.

    Enjoy!

That's the look I'm after. How much negative offset to those wheels? Also the Billstein lift I'm looking at says it requires a differential drop kit. Seriously? For 2.5"? What's involved with that?

not sure of the offset exactly but theyre OEM Trail special rims and I dont have a diff drop installed. I have a 2011 SR5 that also has a 2” bilstein lift but with 5100s all around and stock springs, no diff drop installed either at 85k and now she has 167k. No issues as well.
