The hybrid battery dies if not used regularly

but in this case, if the battery dies, it wont render the vehicle dead unlike real hybrids.

unfortunately some of my best options are tied to the HV and i will be getting a new 4runner. that was my retirement plan to get 1 more and have it paid off by retirement.

and from what i have seen, in 2026-2028, they may be looking into adding particulate filters to gas engines (aka def)

I don't follow. Pretty sure you can not drive a prius with dead battery.

I don't believe that. What is your source?

What does body on frame have anything to do with hybrid sytems? It is the same design as any other toyota hybrid

because the hybrid is not the main source of power on the bof vehicles. its only adding ~43hp

It is adding around 43hp in a Prius too, so what is your point?

you cant actually drive the vehicle solely on hybrid power on the bof vehicles. the tundra you can only go up to 18mph at best and it only last for about 5-8 minutes.

The 6th Gen will sell to the upper class with disposable income but no longer to the average middle class that just wants a nice 4runner for fun. They are priced out sadly. After the initial hype and orders for the 6th Gen, the lots will then fill up with them like the 2024 Tacoma now and buyers will start seeking out the 5 Gen in the used market. I expect if you have a 2022-2024 5th Gen for example, you will see prices rise by as much as 35%. So in fact - the 4Runner will never rest in peace. Your 5th gen may actually become a appreciating asset. It begs the question would you then sell it for the huge profit? Comments?

It is like that in a Prius too. 5-8 minutes lol, 5-8 seconds it is, not minutes

If my 5th appreciates in value, I may trade it in for the new GX

lol the prius uses the engine to charge the battery pack and the vehicle mostly runs from the battery pack to power the electric motors. a dead battery pack will render the vehicle non moveable.

in the bof system the battery pack is just to add a boost between the engine and transmission, mostly to get the vehicle to start moving and the engine takes over. completely different setup.

That was/is true with prius as well though? Most of the hp comes from the engine, and a little more added on from the battery. Maybe I am missing something..

This is news to me. I was under the impression that all hybrids in line up -- RAV4, highlander, and all BoF vehicles work similar to prius. The reason why prius has higher mpg is due to smaller engine + smaller weight.

I believe what you are both arguing about is two differences in hybrid cars. Prius and the new T4R iForce hybrid or the Tundra iForce Max hybrid. Like other user said it's not battery driven electric motors at the wheel. It's only assisted or sandwiched at the transmission I believe. Which could mean you may be able to run the vehicle even with a dead power cell. Running on Gas engine alone. I think Prius's gas motors only purpose was to charge correct? I could be mistaken but never researched it. I never liked Prius anyway.

100%. Nothing I have seen in LC/6th gen makes me think I'd prefer it over GX 550. I am not looking to replace my 2023 5th gen, but if I am, that is where I'd go. Maybe with the caveat that I need to see 6th gen in person.

You ask pretty much anybody about the new GX, they will tell you Lexus has done a kickass job. Power, Looks, capability, comfort, tech, you name it. And Lexus dealers treat people like Kings and Queens.

Yeah BUT. . . . It's a LEXUS and Toyota product though?:rolleyes: :argue: I wouldn't be real proud unless it had an Audi Badge or Merc Star.

HAHAHA Just giving you shiz. . . :crapstorm:

IMO 150 Times better looking than your FUGLY Lexus

    beauty is in the eye..
I honestly do not think that Audi is better looking than lexus. I certainly do not think 550 is fugly. Its probably the most handsome SUV in lexus' lineup.
And how many miles before that audi has a powertrain failure? Going by historic data, I'd say chances are good that happens. But hey if it rocks your boat, by all means buy the Audi. I am not making the payment so does not bother me what others buy :)

LOL OMG Thats how I see lexus. . . HAHAHA

No but serious I don't mind Lexus but it's never been my preferred Luxury SUV. Like other poster said beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Well it's only gotta last me from 0 - 75k miles at the most for five years. Whatever guy buys later is his problem.

These new Lexus trucks aren't too bad as far as luxury and comfort are concerned. I remember the days when Lexus had an SUV based off the 80 series

From the moment I first looked at the front of the 5th Gen years ago, I thought the front end design was inspired by the grasshoppers in the animated movie Ants. I have never been able to get that out of my head.
