While the 6th Gen is not anything I'd want, I am looking forward to other members here getting them. It will be great to see the mods they do and I hope they will be reliable for them.

Waiting for a blow off valve. Peak torque at 1700 rpm, may make for some sweet tones.

Very well put - I like a response rooted in logic rather than emotion. I agree 100%

I feel like this borders on apples to oranges comparison. I understand and agree that regulations were/are put in place due to public safety (reference rivers on fire in the '70's) because a completely free market will put profits over the good of workers or surrounding population. However, labeling morphine as "a natural infant sleep aid" is a far cry from putting a torquey v8 in an SUV to do its job, rather than turbo charging a 4-cyl to get somewhat close to the same power just to gain a couple mpg in the "interest of safety".

You're right, new technology (at least used to) take time to be adopted because people typically don't like change.

20-25 years ago was probably the wrong timeline - i was thinking Prius and, more specifically, GM hybrid products were introduced quite a long time ago but they never really seemed that popular until green became "trendy"

Agree, I just don't think anyone expected them to come as fast and hard as they did regulation-wise. You would have thought the higher gas prices and vulnerable infrastructure would have driven higher demand for hybrids and EV's but I think (as stated before) a lot of people are afraid of change. And yes, I understand there is an argument for EV infrastructure vulnerability as well

Don't get me started on bailouts and "too big to fail". I don't want political hacks responding to this supporting their party over another either - pretty sure both major sides have used the argument to justify their spending.

I always say what I feel is true and pertinent to the conversation and will do my best to never offend anyone. I hope we are all here as truth seekers and to acquire new knowledge. In this crazy divided world it is almost impossible to not offend someone regardless of the conversation - politics or not. I do believe is speaking my mind tactfully based on the 1st amendment. If I get removed from any forum for speaking the truth or expressing my opinions, I am fine with that. I don't sweat the small stuff really. :)

I don’t know about other parts of the country but we approaching April 15th and I’ve seen one and only one 2024 Tacoma on the lot and none on the road of all the dealers in the area. I see lots “in transit and have been for long time”

So is this great new truck in a lot of garages, or still in the Mexico plant or a lot parked somewhere. Seems odd where are all these trucks ?

I am wondering if like GM and the Canyon there is a lot of vehicles parked somewhere with a stop sale until they get something worked out.

I really wish the auto journalists and reviewers would touch on some of the actual details vs posting the same videos with nothing new to say. For me it would have been great if somebody who is walking it and sitting in it in person could confirm whether those are running boards or actual steel frame mounted sliders on the TRD Pro. I know the design is different than the tube rock sliders on the Trailhunter, but there are some aftermarket rock rails/sliders that are shaped like what is on the TRD Pro and it would be great to know if they are sliders or crappy running boards. Also, I see ground clearance numbers published but none distinguishing the ground clearance of the regular models vs the Trailhunter and TRD Pro, yet another bit of info that would be useful.

they only get to shoot their review video earlier so it's released the day of (and get their views and money) if they only talk about positive stuff. So definitely take everything from these review videos with many grains of salt. It's not their real opinion.

Not to "derail" the thread but steam trains are awesome pieces of engineering. Too bad they run on coal and water.

Interesting that diesel electric trains are the norm now but vehicles never followed. When the Germans developed the Tiger tank back in the '40s, one of the options was a diesel electric if my memory serves me correctly. Unfortunately, the demo vehicle caught on fire so they abandoned the project.

I've always wondered why diesel electric never caught on for commercial on the road travel. Probably not enough electricity generated from solar panels on 18 wheeler trailers (and risk of damage to the panels) but almost seemed like a natural stepping stone. I probably just don't know enough about the industry

the 4Runners will max out around $60k. The lower to mid 60’s will be the Land Cruiser, not including First Edition which is just that, limited numbers of unique package assortment. The Lexus GX will be high 60’s to high 70’s. This is how Toyota has positioned them with minimal price overlap to try avoid cannibalizing sales of each vehicle. Of course this is all MSRP without dealer markups.

the Sequoia is a different animal. It is larger and specifically to satisfy those Americans who need a large full size vehicle to suit their needs or happiness. This is kinda on its own and I think a different buyer that is not interested in a 4runner, LC, or GX due to their smaller size.

I saw that too. Not sure how tall he is, but it clearly showed the folded seatbacks come up to the bottom of his rib cage. If you figure a platform’s surface would be 3 inches higher, then sleeping on that would be really high, and wont allow to room to sit up. Gotta wonder if a fridge would fit too.

But at least any platform would allow massive room for a drawer system below it. There’s still the possibility that the entire seat is easily removable.

Except that the sequoia has a solid rear again, right? One of the reasons I almost bought an earlier gen sequoia (before independent rear) and built that. Still had a v8, slightly larger. One of the sequoia turn offs for me was the indi rear on last gen

only problem is current 4R limited starts at 50k base and a trd pro base is 55k, that dont leave much room for a price bump to recoup R&D and other costs for a new gen. keep thinking they will cap at 60k

new limited will probably start around 53-54k and a platinum will be 2-3k above that, then you have a trd pro will probably be 58-60k and a trail hunter will hit 62-63k.

also forgot, did you see the price jump from the 2G tundra to the 3G tundra? they jumped anywhere from 5-7-10k depending on trim

my 2018 tundra platinum was 51k msrp, my 23 platinum was 67k msrp

and they were fairly loaded with FIO and PIO options.

granted my discounts on the 2018 brought it down to 47k and 63k respectively :)

Take a look at the new tacos they had a decent increase also. What do we expect with inflation though.

Inflation up again today as just announced too. These are great times.

right now everyone is guessing on pricing across the board. pricing will probably be revealed in september when they let the YT people do actual test drives (read toyota usa lifts the NDA on posting video's)

TRD Jon noted in one of his videos that he was coming back in september to do test drives

I have no doubt that the pricing for each trim will start a few k above the 2024.... but the flip side of that for 5th gen owners who want to trade up is our resale value are still stupid high. KBB says I can private party my 2023 for more than I paid for it!

I am also keep to see the fuel economy numbers. I still think the styling and interior is too busy but its growing on me the more and more I research. Car Care Nuts deep dive was especially interesting.

I was wondering the same thing. Here in the Bay Area, I have yet to see the new Tacoma on the road.

Yesterday, I saw the redesigned Sequoia on the freeway for the first time. And that has been available for a while now.
