Has anyone in the group used the trd roof basket backwards? Meaning the open end faci g the rear hatch and the closed end facing the front? I'm thinking it would make loading from the rear easier and also allow for roof lights. Thanks in advance

I took it to mean the TRD Pro rack since that has a delineated "front" and "back" and could theoretically be mounted backwards (I think the mounting holes should work both ways?)... but I am confused as well. He has a 2016 so there were no options for roof racks beyond the stock rails on all models. If he had a Venture basket bought secondhand it would be the same front to back.

Too poor to buy anything now
LOL, my first thought was a vision of the commercial of the guy with a sofa on his car roof does the panic stop and the sofa flies off the front & smashes into the street.

Baja Rack makes a drop in rack for the FJC. Might fit the TRD pro rack.

I, too, have no idea what is being referred to. The Venture basket is the first thing that came to mind. Most refer to the roof rack as that, a rack, not a basket, but who knows...

I'm not sure what the confusion is.

OP wants to flip the Pro basket 180 so the opening faces back.

I don't believe the mounting holes will line up this way. Only one way to find out lol.

I would just get a different roof rack if you're thinking of mounting it this way. You will not gain much with loading, as the spoiler and shark fin will become obstacles. When I load stuff onto my Pro rack, I step on the slider, then, onto the rear tire. If I'm loading at home, I just use a ladder and the rear tire for balance.

Bolt on Accessories: Mud guards, Running boards, Black Chrome exhaust tip. Rain guards, all weather TRD mats, and TRD Sport Badging on the rear Hatch (makes a Huge Difference).
it just doesn't look right reversed. Plus that would probably add a lot of above your head wind noise at highway speeds, No Bueno!
