Definitely could since the LC is like that. I'm very curious how the packaging is especially since a third-row is optional. (would it be mutually exclusive with the hybrid?)

I like the looks. Not sure if 4cylinder is enough for this rig but have to say specs are impressive.

Turbo 4 will be fine! Power to weight ratio-wise

The new Taco which has the same engine can allegedly tow 6500 pounds.

Hmmm, I guess that makes sense, but how do you explain the LC/GX design then?

If it's like the new Tacoma, ground clearance will depend on what model you get.

I know it says 6500 but all I heard from the start was 6000...really 500lbs not going to matter . No one is buying a 4runner because they need to tow 6000lbs lol

That skirt on the front is ridiculous. I think 99% of the owners will remove it at the nearest gas station after leaving the dealership. I know that the design is subjective for everyone. Now the base engine has the same HP and torque as the gen 5 so what’s the improvement? The 8 speed transmission? Knowing the characteristics of the turbo engines we can expect lower end torque but that’s still not enough to switch from a Gen 5. The interior just looks cheap with that huge tablet. As other said it’s a Tacoma and they covered the bed.

It was pointed out in a Tacoma reveal video the engineers designed it be very easily removed by the owner and basically designed as a throw-away piece. Added only to meet some ridiculous mileage/epa number.

Then I very well may be a buyer. The 5th was a slug that I really really tried to love but ultimately couldn’t get over the lack of power.

As a 5 year Wrangler owner, every time I see a 5th Gen 4Runner I admire what a great looking truck it is.

I almost bought a 4Runner over the Jeep.

I’ve considered trading the Jeep for a 4Runner a few times, willing to trade some off road ability for some reliability.

After seeing the 6th Gen I don’t think I’ll even consider the 4Runner. They actually reduced the approach and departure angles. Might as well get a Tacoma due to the increased size of the 6th gen. Even then, I’d probably buy a Colorado over the Tacoma. At about $5,000 cheaper, I could pay for a lot of potential repairs before even breaking even with the Toyota price.

No offense, but I think I’ll stick with Jeep. The new 4Runner appears to be less capable off road than the 5th Gen.

I don’t mean this as a dig against the Toyota brand. I was hoping the new 4Runner would be more off road capable to tempt me away from Jeep. That didn’t happen.

That huge tablet could be the hood emblem because there is no way to NOT look at it...

It's actually there to prevent hood glare :D

Can you imagine the amount of CO2 and gas that skirt saves for the truck? Must be something else behind it because I only saw it on one photo. I just don’t see the huge improvement here. Do you think the max hybrid will give us 22-23 mpg in city? That would be something compared to my 15-16 mpg in city with the 5th gen. But if the max hybrid is $10k more than I rather spend that money on gas.

Why do people hate a slanted windshield? That's actually better for cars that you know, drive highway speeds.

My main complaints with my 4R are the gas mileage, acceleration, and wind / road noise, and it looks like they might be able to improve all three with this design. Although, gas mileage isn't going to be very good, all things considered.

I'm not looking for a serious off-roader like some of you seem to be. To me, the 4Runner is a family hauler that can handle some rough roads and tow a boat, not a rock crawler. It's been that way since the 3rd gen.

Although, I'm probably on the wrong forum anyway, because realistically my next vehicle is going to be a minivan.

LC 250 is rated at 22 city, 25 highway, if I remember correctly. So 23 seems reasonable. It's better, yes, but not really good, considering the cost and complexity.

Because the slanted windshield gives you a driving experience more equivalent to all the vehicles out there.

the upright style gives you a much more unique experience limited to a smaller set of vehicles like - g wagon, 70 series, old school defender.. etc

Think about it twice. I still have the photos of our Sienna after a low speed 20 mph rear end collision. The tailgate stopped maybe 2-3 inches from my son’s head who was in the 3rd row.

The 4Runner has a smaller windshield and more upright A pillar giving the car an overall better look and results in larger more squared off side windows. It’s just more Toyota looking.

Adjusted that for you ;) Although if it prevents the stone chips I get everyday it may be a sacrifice I'm willing to accept ... That rear leg room though ...

The new Sienna also crash tests poorly for the 2nd row passenger

Many believe they’re hardcore off-roaders that drive in “extreme” conditions when in reality they’re on pavement 99% of the time.

If you’re a “hardcore” off-roader, then you’re in the wrong vehicle. The 4Runner is a Jack-of-all-trades sport UTILITY vehicle. It’s great at a lot of things but hardly the best at anything.
