always been 4wd 76 broncos,67IH,76Cherokee chief , New87 4Runner (stolen in FLA) and 20+years of Suburban's (Big fam) looking at new 4'Runners ,used to shift my runner into 4 at any speed and running between 60 and 80 in 4WD in inches of snow and slush running highways for hours, now I understand it may have not been the brightest thing I ever did ,and i can't tell you i didn't do it 50 times or more but will the 2024 TRD Off Road , or+premium be able to answer the call.Maybe more of a question than an intro but looking to pull the trigger new runners come out tomorrow don't know if i can deal with the tech

4Lo is only available at full stop in neutral. 4hi can be shifted into at any speed up to about 40 mph I believe.
As far as 60 to 80 in the snow? This vehicle is well over 1k lbs heavier than your 1st gen. That could be a bit of a problem for stopping distance.
Because I live in Florida and have NO snow or Ice experience, I cant comment how it will handle in winter conditions at those speeds.

The only thing you’ll have to decide on is which color. After 1/2 a million miles, trade it in for a different color. I’ll probably be dead before that though. Welcome to the forum!

I believe the manual on the SR-5 says you can go into 4H up to 62 mph.

Welcome. The Limited trim is fulltime 4WD, so there is no guessing.

Welcome from Wisconsin! I'm not sure about 80, but 55-60 in 4WD, didn't seem like it hurt, we have the ORP.

To be honest the tech hasn’t drastically changed since they have been building Gen 5 forever. Other than safety features i.e. lane monitoring, adaptive cruise it’s a 4Runner. Now what changes next, not sure. I’m sure I’m missing driveline changes so sorry up front.

Right: locking the center locks the front and rear drive shafts together, but the front and rear axles both have open diffs.
