We recommend powder coat the most, because it gives you the most protection. It will protect your sliders from scratches, chipping, and fading compared to the other surface options. The bedliner coat does a good job at protecting your sliders, but not as well as the powder coat. People that have families and pets tend to get the bedliner finish, because it has a great safety feature with it's strong grip. Raw offers the least amount of protection, they tend to get scratched up when using them on a regular basis when off-roading. People that get the raw tend to not off-road a lot. They like having the option of spray painting their sliders any color they want by having a clean slate with the raw.

In terms of preventing rust, powder coating will help prevent that! We can't say enough about how that is the best option.

That’s interesting guidance.. many people indicate powder coating(nor any coating) not standing up to most off-road scratches… and would be difficult to touch-up by the owner, in an inevitable event of getting damaged

It's pretty strong in protecting the sliders from off-road scruffs. We recommend powder coat to the people that off-road on a very consistent basis, because that's how well they hold up compared to the other surface options. It depends who you ask on touching it up some think it's rather simple, while others think it's difficult. If you ever do need to touch it up it will be worth it, because it makes the sliders so much more durable.

I almost pulled the trigger on your sliders during the Mardi Gras sale.. however the weird inconsistent supported model year range (22’ vs 24’) on the product page vs shopping cart, and concerning q&a section, where you responded that it doesn’t work for KDSS MY2022, put up a big red flag.. I understand many of the info were probably applicable to older designs? But who knows…

i hesitated then found a good deal on RSG, and went with them instead.

definitely recommend cleaning up and update your e-commerce store.

I'm curious... I am interested in getting rock sliders. While I do not plan to do any major off-roading, I want something that will protect the vehicle in the event I find myself in various terrain (fireroads, dirt roads, some muddy areas, etc) while looking for camping/fishing spots, etc. I want something that I can stand on to better reach the top (will be adding a roof rack in time) and I want it to look good. :)

I like the RSG Metalworks, but they appear to have changed their design and no longer offer their badge/shield on the kick out area of the kicked out sliders. I'm also a fan of the CaliraisedLED step edition sliders with kick out and full top plates.

Pricing these on the Caliraised site (kick out, powdercoat bars and bed lined flats) puts me at $1290.
According to the southernoffroad.com site, I can get the same thing for $1095....

Anyone have any experience with southernoffroad.com? Saving $200 for the same thing seems like a bargain to me.

I realize Jake posts on here.. but I am looking for honest answers, trying to avoid bias... if that's possible. :)

Have you checked these guys. I recommend them 100%. Paired with their skid plates, this combo will turn your 4R into a tank. May be more than you need, but the price is right. Only comes in bare metal. I figured the powder coat would get scratched off anyway, so it meant nothing to me. I used POR-15 to seal the metal and painted over it. Touch up as needed.

I bought them because of this video.

Thanks for the quick reply. Not a bad price, but I wish they had an option for "flat" and a finishing option, like powdercoat. I know that would add to the price, but seems like it would hold up better and I imagine getting these powder coated wouldn't be cheap. Food for thought though!

I have Toyota rock rails I purchased used. They are factory powder coated and the typical thin sprayed powder coating in corners, usually welded zones, was surface rusted. After wire brushing, I treated these rusted areas with a "rust lock" product and let it sit a couple days. Then I rinsed and nylon brushed same treated areas with water. After drying, I painted with RustOleum flat black. The brushing nicely painted where wanted and after a year I do not see any rust. Color match is good also.

My goals also. After looking at what was on the market I chose the Greenlane aluminum sliders. Yes, they are expensive but they weigh half of what steel units would - and they will never rust. Very happy with them after several months of use.https://greenlaneoffroad.com/5th-gen-toyota-4runner/4runner-hybrid-sliders-with-bump-out

I recently made the same decision @Yamahamer . My use case + the weight savings + rust factor + current exchange rate with the Canadian dollar kept pushing me toward the Greenlanes.

Thanks for being a fan of our step edition sliders with kick out and full-top plates! Our sliders are strong enough to protect your vehicle from rough terrain since they are crafted from DOM tubing. Also, they can help you access the roof by standing on them. Customers love them because they are protected against corrosion, easy to install, 100% bolt-on, you get to choose your finish of choice, and they are great quality!
If you have any questions about our sliders, please don't hesitate to reach out we are here to help:).

Hey Jake, I do like this and love the you offer the custom options. I also like that the top plates bolt on so you can refinish them if needed, etc.

I have to ask though... do you see any upcoming sales in the near future? Memorial day is just around the corner :)

    Hello Jake,
Im picking up a 2024 4Runner Pro this month from Freeman Toyota.
I am considering RSG and your sliders, with kickout and full step plate, and powder coated

I have a couple of questions, will ask here so others may benefit

Your sliders are DEW, while the default for RSG is HREW...
Your step plates are detachable aluminum, while RSG uses welded on steel
Your tubes are 1.75" tubing and 3/16" mounts, while RSG tubes are 2" with 1/4" mounts

I suspect either option is going to be stronger than the frame, but would appreciate your insight regarding:

    1. Comparable strength between brands related only to different materials used and construction techniques
1a. How do your step plates attach? Your website mentions they are removable...
    2. How much do your sliders weigh? RSG claims 100 pounds per set, but that seems light compared to similar products.
    3. Do you do local pickups, can I stop by your address and pick up products?
    4. Do you collect, and remit, Texas sales tax at 8.25% for TX deliveries?
    5. Do you charge extra to use a credit card, or give cash discounts?
    6. How long is the lead time on above mentioned product for an order placed today?
    7. What type of bed liner do you use? Do you apply the bedliner, or contract it out?

Finally, what is that extra tab on your sliders in the attached picture?
Another attachment point? I've not seen it on any competitor's products
And it looks like your product attaches under AND alongside the frame, is that correct?

The Cali look good but would probably cost a fortune to get them shipped to here in SW Florida.

Good to know . On your sliders do you recommend loctite or anti seize on the bolts ?

For the 4Runner, they are about 50lbs each! So around 100lbs total added weight. Let us know if you have any questions!

Sliders are a very important piece of armor for the trail! They act as a guard for obstacles on the trail and keep things away from the vehicle body.
We offer free shipping, and your sliders are in stock! Get yours at caliraisedled.com!

Bedliner filler plate comes back from coating in the next day or so, meaning your order would be shipped out at the end of the week!
