I want to change the silver valance to Matt black. I see several companies that have replacements. I was ready to order them from 4runner lifestyle but have read not so good reviews about them. I want to make the right choice to install the best looking and durable type. My white Off Road is brand new. Thank you everyone for your help.

I purchased mine from 4RL because they were matte black vs the OEM trim pieces which are more glossy. I typically won't give my business to resellers like 4RL, but it just made sense for this mod. I had no issues with quality or fitment.

I bought both OEM and 4RL valences and did a side by side review on them. Just search the threads and you will find it.

It’s a fair amount of work to pull the front and rear bumper skins to swap the OEM valances for the aftermarket or OEM black ones and about $280 for the aftermarket and way more for the Toyota versions.

I used a matt Plasti-Dip on the OEM valences in my 2021 TRD OR and 2 1/2 years later are holding up and looking just fine and cost me less that $15 for the can of Plasti-Dip and did not require removing the bumper skins.

If you don’t like Plasti-Dip, the OEM valences are very easy to paint with a rattle can matt, flat or gloss black with very little prep and good results once you have them off the bumper skins.

Help me understand why it would be preferable to spend so much more on aftermarket or OEM black valences????

    Cheers,
    Bob

Hey Bob, using plasti-dip or paint works great for many people. But for those people that hit trails that encounter a lot of tree/pine branches or where they encounter debris flying up those options will get scratched/damaged. While it can be touched up, the bumper covers extruded entirely black don't require any touch ups.

Both are good options depending on your needs.

I definitely won't plastic dip because it shows scratches easily. I could remove and paint since I have access to professional auto body and paint shops that have the proper equipment to apply a professionally done coat of paint. But I prefer the molded plastic that has the color embedded throughout the whole piece. I hope I've explained my reason to help understand why I prefer molded matt black. I'm looking for replies to my question as to which is the best after market replacement in matt black. Thank you for your respnse.
