5th Gen in Iceland

Hey folks, thanks for all the info/tutorials/videos. I've been a member for a long time, mostly absorbing info. But today, I want to give back.

A few years back my wife and I were going through some major life changes and decided we wanted to take some time away and tour through Iceland for the summer. After being deeply inspired by series like "Long Way Round" and Expedition Overland, I decided to pick up a camera and create a love letter to those shows.

Being 100% self-produced, it's been years in the making. I have a new found respect for content creators at all levels.

And thanks @mac1usa for the narration comment. The narration and VoiceOver part was one of the biggest struggles for me. I have a hard time writing what I want to say (even as I'm typing this post) and would edit and re-edit the script. I'm still working on "finding my voice" while recording voiceovers and was nervous how it'd be received. So that comment means so much to me.

 

Dane, I'm only part way through the videos of your fantastic adventure. Quite the journey through an often stark and harsh, but always beautiful, environment. I also appreciate your efforts at making these videos and telling your story - it's clear that "making videos" is not an easy or trivial endeavor. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Dane- I just finished the last remaining episodes.....and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Man, what a trip that was. Thank you so much for sharing them with us.

On a related note, I finished the last one and found myself with several questions, like "how did this journey change them", "where are they now and what are they doing" , and "what will be their next adventure "?

Thank you for sharing your adventure and telling your story! What an awesome trip. Great editing of the video as well, as that does take a ton of work! Iceland has a very stark beauty to it and an other worldly feel to it for sure!

 

Just finished the series. Loved it! Amazing adventure you and your wife had!

 

In all honesty I was planning to have some interview questions in the Finale that spoke to these exact question. But, I was or still am feeling burnt out from all the work-work that goes into making the videos as well as the mental/creative work it takes. Maybe in a couple months when I've had some time to step away, work on other projects and go camping a few times, I'll feel more up for a "Retrospective" episode. I gotta say, the positive response from ya'll has been uplifting and is making me feel more motivated to put another episode together.
