First little job, replacing stock lights with led. Struggled with getting the vanity lens off, any tips?

I've seen people use tape and make a little roll to go around them then stick the tape to the bulb and pull them out. I had no luck doing it that way. I just put on thin rubber gloves for more grip and used both my index fingers like a tweezer and pulled them out.

sorry vanity lights lens....I used a plastic pry tool. Come in from the left edge and pry them out

Thanks, I will have to try that with the bulb. I could not get past the vanity light lens, felt as though I was going to pull out the whole thing. Thoughts?

Put in a new cabin air filter. Vehicle is new and nothing was wrong with the old one, but, for some reason I always feel the need to put in a brand new filter.

He shouldn't have to buy one. Almost every add-on that I have bought for my SloRunner, has come with a plastic pry tool. I have one in my truck, two in my tool box and one in the "misc" kitchen drawer.

I'm not even gentle when I try to pop a plastic piece off my truck anymore. I discovered on my Tacoma how easily things pop on-off, and were designed for that purpose. Toyota knows we're gonna mod these trucks.

Replaced the stereo with something from this decade, "Honwally" Android 13 4-Core with Carplay and Android Auto. It's basically the generic Joying/Daisaita Android head unit shipped together with a 4Runner-specific bezel, which includes a few physical buttons. It's very compact and lightweight, mounted to the dash entirely with the plastic bezel clips; the four OEM 10mm bolts aren't reused. My 2010 SR5 has no backup cam, no Bluetooth no GPS, no satellite radio, no steering wheel controls, no USB... I plugged in about 25% of the connectors on the included harness and things seems to work. :notsure:

Got Bluetooth paired for now. There's a built-in mic on the front panel, which helps since my 4Runner never had one. Will figure out Android Auto and wireless TLink mirroring later on.

I removed the "Fanny Pack" bags that I had installed a few months back. I'm not sure who it was, but they were right, eventually...the suction cups gave out (even under a reduced weight load).

I found a cheap molle panel setup ($150 total - including the straps & bags) and some utility bags on Amazon that attached with ease (thanks to velcro straps!). Installing the Molle panel was rather easy, it took maybe 20 minutes. HOWEVER, I realized how messy I had left my tool box, so I spent 2 hours re-organizing and cleaning it.

    Before & After pictures.

Does it have wireless android auto and Apple play or it works through the USB port?
I am assuming your port is in the glove compartment.

Perhaps air down to get it in and out of the garage then air up before driving off…good excuse for onboard air! All seriousness sucks to have that issue!

don’t know what diameter your rack is

    https://rb3offroad.com/t/flag-mounts

I use this nmo mount on my SXS cage.

Will allow you to mount it lower if you rotate the bar mount 90 degrees and the use the other adjustments to true the angle.

Power washed the garage floor to get the winter nastiness out, nice day, let it dry off and did the springtime oil change (liquid gold Toyota 0W-20) and topped off the wiper fluid. GTG until fall. As long as I'm young enough to get under there and get it done that is how it is going to go. I can pretty much do it by feel, which is good because I can't see quite as well as I used to......

5100's all around are on the schedule for next week.

As shown in the AliExpress link there are 17 versions offered in that listing. The version I ordered with 4GB RAM & 32GB storage is advertised with wireless Carplay and Android Auto. I haven't poked around in the setting menus to verify that's the version received, since it came with zero documentation. I do see a "TLink5" app on the unit that does wireless screen mirroring over wifi (you set up a hotspot on your phone and the unit connects to it), so that's potentially another option.

Less exciting today. I lubed the propeller shafts, inspected all the boots and everything else underneath, washed the windows inside and out, cleaned every surface inside, inflated the tires, reset the service interval. I'm almost ready for my road trip.

ETA: After almost a year, WoolWax looks to have been very effective.

Yeah, the Tlink5 app will be used to mirror your phone.
When I swapped mine from my 2011, I actually routed a USB cable from behind the AC unit, below the center control for easier access and no visible wires.I feel a wired connection is always better for a stable link. The glovebox USB port is defunct for me now.

For now I installed on the lower rail. Have to see if that impacts alot on the range or not. Not sure of things get worse when I have the roof cargo box.

I also installed inside of the roof rack as this antenna can be stolen easily and Denver has increased theft a lot, A LOT.

    Will see..

I have a 12V socket in the glovebox, no USB. I plugged my dash cam into that socket. The Android head unit included two USB cables that could plug into the back of the unit, one has 6 pins, the other 4 pins. I don't plan to use them.

I got the front and 2nd row dome pretty easy, but the vanity ones gave me some trouble. When I was jimmying, it felt like I was going to pull the whole thing out lol. Is that just how it is?

Sadly mine is not even lifted. Just 285s. This TRD Pro roof rack is killing all the clearance. I never had this problem with my TRD ORP and SR5 with 3in front and 2in rear lift or the Limited with 2¼front and 1½in rear lift. If I were to lift the TRD Pro I have to allocate money to change the roof rack :annoyed:

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Since the antenna is only 2 or 3 inches, why not mount it horizontally instead of vertically? That way you won't have to air up/down just to get out of the garage. I seriously doubt mounting it a different way till dramatically impact the signal strength.

Lay the antenna down so it runs along the roof rack rails. It will also give it a stealth look!

    Did you mean this way?

That's a good idea. I never thought about it. Have to check if the brackets fit side ways. I might have to use the pipes that goes between top and bottom pipes. Will see. Thank you for the idea
