I posted this in the Suspension Forum & got no reply. "Is there a point where you can lift the front of a 4th Gen 4Runner with a floor jack before removing the skids? If so where is it? Pic if possible. TIA, Stan" Anybody?

    Bump.

I have a 5th Gen so I'm not sure. My guess would be frame rails and jack stands one side at a time.

Maybe someone with 4th gen could point you in the right direction?

I saw the question earlier and it interested me because there is a spot on 5th gen skids that you can supposedly lift from. Maybe I missed it, but I don't see a clearly analogous spot in photos of 4th gen skids.

Yes - in fact you have to lift it before removing the skids because the center lift point is a reinforced part of the front skid. You'll see it, it's a raised circle.

This is the back side of the skid. The bottom of the skid in this pic is the front end and the reinforcement under the jacking point is at the rear of the skid, at top center in the pic. Sorry about the mud, this was in a post explaining that it's important to clean the back sides of your skids from time to time.

Edit: Just went out and took a pic and I guess it’s only raised until you bang and scrape through some Windrock Park rock gardens.

Yeah, that's what I was looking for in the pics. So it's very similar to the 5th gen.

Thanks gents. I went out & looked & apparently I don't have a front skid plate. So now I have to spend more money for skids! Jacked it up on the crossmember right in front of the engine skid plate? I think. So now to decide who to give money to for skids.
