Hey - Any update on any difference in MPG? Definitely considering these, but the weight is holding me back.

Reading off Falken's site, there is only 1lb per tire difference in the stock size 265/70r17 in SL.

Big differences come in larger sizes. e.g. 285/70r17 C and E ratings. AT4 doesn't appear to come in SL rating in that size.

For stock size I'm seeing 47.6 LBS for the AT4 vs 40Lbs for the Stock Duelers (That's from Falken's website and DT). So stock size for stock size, moving to the Falken's would net 30lbs more weight. What were you comparing to get a 1lb per tire difference?

You're right.... I read "AT3" in the post you quoted (completely missing the "Toyo" part. ) and thought it was comparing the AT3W v.s. AT4W Falkens.

Mounted up my AT4w's this weekend and the weight difference between 60% worn KO2's feels significant, but the difference does not feel that bad when actually driving. I also drove in a snow storm this morning with them and they were great; better than the KO2's ever felt in snow/ice/slush even when they were new.

They did take a significant amount of weight to balance nicely though. I would say between 7-11 oz per wheel.

if it took that much weight to balance then you either have a tire issue or the guy at the shop didnt put the yellow dot by the valve stem before seating the bead. I understand its more tire weight, but Mine never took more than 2-4 oz/tire to balance.

I did it myself as i own my own tire and balancing machines. Part of it could be the wheel may be a bit off, as the KO2's took quite a bit too. I did line up the yellow dot with the valve stems as well.

It made financial sense to me since I have multiple cars and have 3 season and winter sets for all of them. paying $120 to change tires at discount tire all the time got old and in the last 4 years I have already made up the cost of the machine with that savings.

I also don't trust tire shops with the custom wheels on my other cars as those range from 3500-6k/set.

The Rain/Snow performance with the KO2s is something that I'd worry about here in WI. I'll have to read up more on the K03 performance, but I've only heard great things about the AT3/4Ws in the rain/snow.

Extremely jealous of the wheel/tire machine. If I had room for it I'd 100% make an investment..though I can't say I enjoyed my job as a tire tech back in highschool lol.

I would say the AT4w's are significantly better than the KO2's ever wear new in the wet/snow. The KO2's weren't bad but these are just better; though their performance in rain was always lacking imo. Once I hit <50% tread they got much worse and that is what prompted me to get new tires.

How is the acceleration with the WildPeaks compared to stock?

TBH I only drove on stock tires for 50 miles from the dealer straight to a discount tire and put the E load KO2's on when I first bought it. I do remember enough to say that at that time the acceleration difference was significant, and the wildpeaks are heavier than the KO2's by 7 lbs each. At this point I can feel a difference but its barely anything vs the KO2's. I am also supercharged which helps. Before the supercharger when loaded with gear I would have gear hunting and it would stay in 4th going through the mountains, and that was before I even hard armor etc.

I think the tradeoff is worth it though as I drove it home from the dealer in the rain and the stock duelers were slipping already.

I installed some stock size SL load AT4s a couple of weeks ago and noticed one big change from the AT3s…a stiffer ride. I’ve had multiple sets of AT3s over the years, same size and load rating, and the AT3s had softer rubber. This will probably be a good thing durability wise, but I really enjoyed the ride quality and grip the AT3s had. Maybe warmer weather and a break in will soften the AT4 up a bit. They’re definitely more aggressive on the tread and look great.

285/70/17 C rated… They ride smooth and they are more quiet than both my Toyo RT Trails, and my KO2s. They don’t have the “Wom Wom” noise I got with the Toyos. I have yet been able to drive with them in anything but dry weather, so we will see how they do when winter rolls around.

As you guys have identified, they are definitely a heavy tire. I immediately noticed their weight after leaving Discount Tire. They also seem to have a more firm ride compared to my other C-rated tires. They are a big 285, too.

I’m leaning toward swapping my 285/70/17 KO2s C load for 285/75/17 wildpeak at4s in C load. The at4s are 67lbs and the KO2s I’m replacing are 51lbs. Anyone swap to heavy tires like this and regret it? They’re going on stock pro wheels which I think are around 25lb. Toyo AT3s in the same size are only 59lbs but the sidewall doesn’t look anywhere near as aggressive.

That's a significant weight gain. You'll definitely feel the difference and I think you'd be disappointed.

    What about KO3's?

KO3 is 285/75/17 is 63lb so it be 4lb lighter but still up 12lbs from my current setup. Wasn’t going KOs as I wanted more of a true to size 34” tire.

I think I most ppl that run 34s have 60-65lb tires. Toyo C load seemed to be the lightest at 59lb.
