Not sure if yall have read a lot about fear. But thats why crime is up. There is no longer a landscape of fear for these criminals. Back in the day, you knew the cost of doing such crimes. That has changed and without being "fearful" of the punishment, you get now a days. Behavior has changed and its all based on the fear factor being so low

So I have four wheel locks but the container is missing the tool so they're useless and on my wheels I have aftermarket Pro comp lugs but they're acorn style and I think they're different shaped lugs since I bought the aftermarket wheels, not just the color black being different.

So my option is just to buy wheel locks as the solution but the question is do they need to say on Amazon for instance that they don't fit 2016 4Runner because that's true they fit aftermarket wheels instead

 

I disagree somewhat. People can usually get away with property crime with little fear for blowback, but in the old days in order to find buyers, you needed to put yourself out there and risk running into a sting operation, or work with a fence who may be a police informant, it was harder to get in touch with buyers without sticking your neck out.

Today anyone with a 50 dollar tablet can post stuff for sale with a public wifi point, the barrier to entry is dramatically lower.

 

Look at the lugs in your package again. They are not locking lugs, they are the factory lugs. Looks like someone installed the locking ones, put the tool in the vehicle and kept the factory ones in the package.

 

Those look like regular chrome factory lug nuts.

I'm pretty sure I got f***** around cuz I think the shop did what they pleased with the OE locks and OE lugs and gave me four lugs in my glove box to distract me.
Either way I have no use for chrome lugs or locks.

I think numerous "master" key tools exist for defeating locking lug nuts. Admittedly, a potentially slower process, but not by a lot.

 

Not a shock to see this in CA. There is zero punishment for crime there.

 

The victim gets punished twice, once by the criminal, and again by the government claiming that it was somehow the victim's fault. Aren't progressives great?

Mine is the 1st year 2nd gen (1990) but it essentially has the entire bulletproof/sloooow 1st gen driveline. It is my errand runner and desert exploration ride. Bought new ($13K) in 1990 with zero options…..at the time we needed a cheap, reliable family car. The first 15yrs it was my wife’s car and I rode motorcycle to work.
My wife thinks I’m nuts that I drive it most of the time rather than the 22 ORP. Just about the only time I drive the 5th gen is when she comes along.
Edit…I added the roof rack and factory AC.

 

How invasive was adding the factory AC? No dash removal I hope?

 

I did this 33yrs ago, many brain cells have dried up, but I can remember some stuff. Back then Toyota had a complete kit for dealers to install and I was fortunate to have a good friend who was a dealer mechanic to help. The dash did not have to come out, we just swapped the heater boxes from under the dash, the new control switch panel and installed all the stuff under the hood. I think I remember the firewall was dimpled kinda like electrical box knock-outs for the plumbing pass-thru. Still blows ice cold to this day.

Chrome lugs belong on a Ford.

 

Each of my lugs has a different wheel lock on them for a total of 24 different locks.

Never had a wheel stolen.

 

If it makes any difference, here is one person who is envious of your rig.

I am the same way, I drive my 2005 manual corolla to most places on pavement despite us having 23 ORPs. I can't explain it but maybe I am just getting old, but driving an older, more familiar car brings a smile to my face in a way no new vehicle can.

 

Every time I work on a friend's car with wheel locks, I make them drive down the street and get regular lugs. You break one wheel lock and you will never want them on your car again.
