I love this new 4runner plan on taking it to the grave but I sure do miss my FJ,, I could have kept if financially but thought the new truck would be a good replacement but it's just not the same.

The 4R is just the FJ's big brother. Same proven drivetrain but with much more cargo space!

Welcome to the Forum. I owned from new a 2010 FJ. I too really liked that vehicle. Owned it for 11 years and 167,000 miles, trouble free. But eventually traded it in for a 2021 TRD/OR Premium with MR. In 2021 I turned 71 and just retired. So I new I would now be driving only about 8K a year, or less. So I thought the 4R would last me till I'm gone. And I wanted the same drive train as the FJ. So, no regrets with the 4R. I missed the FJ for a while, but the 4R grew on me quickly. It is nice have the extra storage space and creature comforts of the 4R. But I still miss that nostalgic look of the FJ.

LOL !!! Isn't that the truth. One guy said the FJ was like driving inside a football helmet. LOL It did indeed have the worst blind-spot of any vehicle I've ever driven. Those large, outside mirrors were necessary. But you eventually learned to compensate for the blind spot.

…and people space. The back seats in the FJ are torture for anyone but a child and it’s a pain in the ass to get in and out of there.

They do have their charm though.

    Welcome!

I'm reuniting with an old hiking buddy later next month and our adventure will include a 4WD shuttle. The outbound leg (with 5 people and backpacks) should fill up my 4R. The retrieval (just him and me) will be in his FJ. There are a few things that the 4R can do better.

Welcome from Arizona! If it makes you feel any better a number of years ago Consumer Reports gave the then new FJ poor reviews for visibility.
