Sound system advice?

I am finally ready for my audio upgrade of the 94 project. I have found several OEM speakers behind trim panels throughout the interior. Many are torn or definitely in need of an upgrade. Does anyone have a list of the factory speaker setup and suggestions on what to replace them with. I plan to upgrade the after market, cheap Sony cassette deck as well.

 

Budget?

 

Pretty open. Maybe $2K tops for the whole system. I'll probably will get the speakers done first. Then worry about the stereo later.

 

I’m bite to building my 5th gen stereo. Speakers suck but you can’t do much until you get a good receiver with proper outputs.

They have an awesome “marketplace” where people are getting rid of legit speakers for about 50% of what they are worth. Often times still brand new in the box. A couple members also make custom adapters too.

They will tell you to got he component route. Right now I’m working on getting a 6.5” mid bass woofer into the door and a 3.5” speaker to replace my Infinity 3.5” coaxial in the dash. They will also tell you to not worry about the rear seats or hatch.

I purchased an amp at diy. I did purchase my head unit new from Crutchfield. I wanted the factory buttons to work and all.

I have been trying to buy Stereo Integrity stuff. Sounds like the owner builds all the stuff in house. A little lousy on customer service but the product is well worth the price, per DIY members.

Rule of thumb: stereo is only as good as the weakest link.

 

Looks like a way more detailed system than mine will be.

 

Have you made any progress on this yet?

I have about $3,200 in mine. It's pretty much done. I'm waiting for some tweeter pods to get shipped to me and a different amp should be on my doorstep when I get home (from DIYaudio). I bought a sub amp but it was too big to fit under my passenger seat with my other amp for the front stage. It's kicking some ass. Pretty happy with it. Still needs some fine-tuning, but I'm making progress on that. First time using a DSP. I already want more power for my front stage (Sub is plenty loud). I have an Arc Audio PS8-50 amp and the same company makes a higher powered version of the same amp with the exact same physical specs. I'm going to keep an eye out for one and replace my amp when the time is right.
