I'm getting up in years and want a comfortable camping experience without the expense and limitations of an RV.

Does anyone have experience with this particular set-up on a 5th gen 4Runner? I am particularly interested on how it integrates with the lift gate. We plan to sleep in the back of the 4Runner and use the tent as additional living space. This particular tent seems to have all the features we want.

I'm not interested in alternative products unless this one doesn't fit
    the lift gate well.

I’ve really enjoyed this setup. Paired with the Luno mattress it offers a great night in camp. The tent isn’t hard to set up but it does take some time. The fitment with the lift gate is fine, with heavy duty elastic and tightening straps keeping the tent secure. Zero leakage on a rainy night and no separation in the wind. Plenty of height for standing (I’m 5-11) and plenty of room for storing gear, changing clothes, or lounging. Enjoy!

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I wish I could help, but the Army ruined sleeping in tents & sleeping on the ground. I don't go camping, I go GLAMPing! I'm not ashamed to admit that either. Give me a flush toilet, running water and a/c & heat.

That tent will fit your 4Runner fine. The 82000 is basically the same tent, but without the screen room on the side. Looks like 4Daughters has the same tent as us. The sleeve that attaches the tent to the 4Runner is the same. Sleeve fits onto the 4Runner over the raised lift gate pretty well. Elastic band grips to the back of the vehicle and straps hold the top of the sleeve to the roof rack rails, and there are straps with plastic hooks that attach inside the rear wheel wells, bottom of the sleeve also attaches inside the cargo area. Its a pretty good SUV tent - we've used it for camping over the last year since we got our 4Runner. Not sure how waterproof it would be in a big storm - we've never camped in the rain with it. We typically only camp in it for 1-2 nights, in state parks fairly close to our home, so if weather forecast calls for high % of rain - we just don't go. I think it would do fine in light/moderate rain - but with hard/driving rain I think water would come in around where the sleeve seals to the 4Runner. It is a good tent for SUV camping though.

Apparently you didn't read my post very well. I'm going to sleep on a mattress in the back of the vehicle.

RUNNER4DAN - do you have a mattress that is designed specifically for the 4Runner? If not, when you fold the rear seats down it won't be completely flat in the 4Runner. Some people find this uncomfortable. Also, will you be sleeping in the 4Runner alone? If there will be two people sleeping in the 4Runner it will feel cramped. I know some prefer to sleep in the 4Runner and use the attached SUV tent as a place to store their gear, stand up to change clothes, etc... That works. My wife and I have found that it is more comfortable to sleep in the tent and leave gear, clothes, etc... in the back of the 4Runner. The Napier tent is large enough to put a queen sized air mattress on the floor and still have room on the sides/foot of the air mattress to walk around inside the tent. The tent is also designed so that you can disconnect the vehicle from the sleeve/tent if you need to drive somewhere. If you plan on doing this it might make more sense to leave some stuff (valuables, expensive coolers/camping equipment, anything you wouldn't want to leave in the tent at the campsite) in the cargo area of the 4Runner and sleep in the tent. If you've got this all thought out and prefer to sleep in the vehicle - no prob, that definitely works better for some people.

Also - make sure you get a tent footprint. Basically a tarp that is the exact size of the tent bottom. Get one for sure if you will be setting the tent up on a paved surface like a campsite at a state or national park. And bring a broom so you can sweep the area where you will set the tent up to get rid of small rocks/branches that could poke holes in the tent bottom - but the tent footprint should protect your tent floor.
