Proud new owner of my first ever 4Runner, 96’ with 171,000 on the block! Came with a laundry list of small things to fix which I’ve been taking care of the last week. This one if any figure out. Can anyone ID this part/what needs to be replaced? Underneath the glovebox near some of the heater controls so I’m assuming it’s related? Front heat is not nearly as hot as the rear. AC is not as cold as I’d imagine it should be

I replaced my expansion valve in the ac unit. There's like 4 bolts holding it together after you take off the glove box.

Is this something I can replace individually or is it part of a greater repair?

And that included the plastic arm/lever that’s broken in my photos?

Just suggesting that its a very easy system to work on. Blend door should be right there.

Might as well put a new expansion valve in it. They are cheap.

Wait thats the heater core box. Not the AC box. You could almost run a screw in it and hand turn it?

I have the rear heat, no a/c back there. Hoping someone can let me know if I can replace that single part, or how/what to swap

I would buy that used unit. Take it apart get familiar with it. Change out the blend door and might as well get a new heater core.

I had the blend door go out on my 86' Ford F-150. It uses a vacuum actuator to open/close it. The Ford dealer was able to order just the door.
