Have a ‘24 orp and the app long press from the Home Screen has the remote start option but no where in the app can I remote start it. The fob trick doesn’t work either so I don’t think it has remote start.

I have a TRD Pro and I can only auto start with the app. My fob does not do that. I wish it did. Am I misunderstanding something?

Replying to my own post. The super secret trick is Lock 3x and then hold for auto start on the fob. Youtube to the rescue. :)

remote start with the fob is only on Limiteds and Pros. Others are app only.

My wife just bought a 2024 SR-5 Premium yesterday. It's nicely equipped but I'm shocked that automatic starter isn't apart of the package. Can the dealership add a OEM starter? I'm not interested in aftermarket starter.

You would have to ask your dealer point blank if they will install the OEM Toyota remote start system that will work in the Toyota app. My guess is that they would probably install an aftermarket one though.

GM was just busted for selling On-Star information to Insurance Companies. Driving up rates.

    https://nypost.com/2024/03/12/busin...n-you-and-upping-your-insurance-rates-report/

I'm not sure if Toyota does this. I was originally bothered that my ORP did not come with Remote Connect, but now I am okay with it.
I am considering turning off all the connected services.

I would think that an aftermarket remote start may have less infrastructure to sell data.

(Update: Looked it up, you can opt out in the Toyota App. https://support.toyota.com/s/article/How-do-I-optout-of-sh-10033)

Have you simply just tried the fob? I had no idea mine had remote start until I saw it online. Press the lock button three times holding it down on the third time and what do you know; flashing lights then starts right up.

All the insurance companies are getting sneaky about your driving details. A few years ago, USAA would soft pull your credit and rely on info from Lexus Nexus now they use a third party out of Montana or Wyoming (somewhere up there) that collects info such as CarFax and mileage reports (like when you get an oil change or service) and compare that info with your estimated miles per year. From an actuarial standpoint, more miles driven means greater risk thus they raise your rates. At present, they don’t think Toyota shares my driving habits (hard. Turns, hard breaks, fast acceleration, etc…). But I am sure that’s next.
