    Howdy,
I am currently talking with a dealer to buy a '22 TRD ORP with 74k of travel. it has some minor dings but looks like the first owner took good care of it. What kind of things should I be asking or looking for specifically when I go to test drive it this weekend?

Thanks in advance for the info!

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Ask to see all service records.
If the truck was driven or lived in a state with Snow/Salt on the roads, check the frame for signs of rust.
If it has a sunroof, check for signs of leaks (check the footwells).
Ask why the mileage was so high? 37k per year is very high. But on the plus side, those miles are probably going to be all highway.

Got any pictures of it? What are they asking for it?

I was planning on taking some pictures this weekend, they are asking $35K for it. I think the high mileage is from the previous owner using it for some pretty long road trips based on the service report locations I found. I will be checking for signs of rust.

Go to KBB.com (Kelly Blue Book) and book it out. Year, trim, mileage, condition, then look at private party and trade in values. This will give you a barometer as to its value, which you can use (or not) as a bargaining tool. Get vin# and run a Carfax. I always remind myself when I’m looking at a used car that they made hundreds of thousands of these and there’s always another one (maybe a better one) right around the corner. I always crawl under the vehicle from rear to front looking for leaks, rust, scrapes and general abuse. I look under the hood for cleanliness and pull the oil dip stick and look at the color of the oil and if it smells burnt. Start engine with hood open and listen for any knocking. Get in for test drive with windows open, start engine and put it in drive, then reverse, back to drive a couple times, listen and butt feel for a clunk, could be bad u-joint or axel bearing. Trust your gut feeling, if you smell a rat, your gut will tell you to walk away. Welcome to the forum.

Service history is good to ensure the fluids/filters were changed as often as they should have been. Aside from the the most important thing is to make sure it was not a rental unit that got abused, and that it wasn't in any bad accidents. Accidents, depending on how bad may appear to be resolved only to find later down the road that it caused serious, yet unseen, issues down the road. That happens and can be a nightmare. Thoroughly test every single function and at all normal speeds and have an independent, trusted, mechanic check it over. I've seen too many stories of lemons and post accident repaired vehicles slipping through the cracks ending up in the hands of a new owner.
