Its been awhile, Hope everyone is doing well. I shopped about 2 years ago for body armor, but i never pulled the trigger to buy it. I am now back on the market and I just wanted to ask if there are any New body armor brands/models especially with Cat shield combo's that everyone is leaning towards. I know some of the major brands are only proprietary to their armor. Do any of you have any feedback about your body armor on your 4runners? Any information is greatly appreciated.

**fyi yes i am actively searching armor reviews. Just want to hear this friendly forums input on my questions. Thanks in advance.

I have 4xInnovations sliders and skids. They bolt together creating a cohesive unit that really takes a pounding. The sliders bolt up to 3 sides of the frame. Think of "cupping the frame," unlike some others that are simply a flush mount or side-and-bottom mount (2 sides of frame). IIRC it was 13 bolts a side for just the sliders. Run the gas level down as the driver side slider bolts up to one of the tank straps. Not too big of a deal but it could be a nightmare to install with a full tank and all that weight. I decided on 4x after watching the vid below. They have taken a few dozen full-weight-of-the-truck hits. Oddly, the hits are hard but not as "harsh" as one would expect. You know you took a big hit, but your teeth don't rattle. The gas tank skid is top notch, too. It covers the front edge of the tank. I have absolutely no regrets. Recommend them 100%.

EDIT: Check the coverage of the skids. The LCA pivot points are somewhat protected.

My 4R sports FJToyman shock skids, too.

What do you want armor for? Ultimate trail protection? Light trail protection for a daily? Pretending that mud on your fenders isn't from a dirt lot as you were leaving Costco?

RCI transmission skid now comes with cat guard wings that bolt on with carriage bolts, so you can get proper 3/16" steel skids with cat protection:

Most of the armor companies will have similar products and quality. I use RCI Metalworks for all of my armor and it has held up well. When Jason used to own RSG, he was amazing. Just decide on steel vs aluminum and take a look at the coverage pictures on the Vendor websites.
