20” rim change to 17” Limited

So new to me ‘16 Limited has 20” aftermarket rims with 275/55/20 BFG KOs. While the appearance looks nice and all, I feel like 17s would be better suited for comfort and the wallet come tire change time.

Question is, will 17” rims from Tacoma's/4Runner fit? I’d love the black TRD rims but want to confirm fitment from the Tacoma would work?

 

Looks like TRD-style wheels from a '16 Tacoma should fit, the +4mm offset shouldn't pose an issue. 275/55-20s aren't any more expensive than 265/70-17s, so you won't be saving any money on tires by switching to 17s (depending on the brand of course).

Thank you! But I guess the ride / comfort would be better. Prob doesn’t help that these BFGs are a load E tire and not C.

Can you also tell me how you determined that the ‘16 Tacoma rims has a 4mm offset? Is the TRD rims or any ‘16 Tacoma OEM rim?

 

The offset is listed under the wheel specs at the web link. You can pull up different years and models of OEM wheels on that website.

 

Thanks! And you are correct the cost on that 17” isn’t any better lol guess maybe just stick with the 20s and find a C rated tire to gain a bit of sidewall flex..

 

I got my set of 275/55-20s off Simple Tire, with free shipping. Had a local dealer mount then, so they could deal with the TPMS sensors. They do look noticeably taller and wider than the OEM 245/60s, which is what I was expecting. No more skinny profiles.
